The heatsink is "warm" to the touch, but it's not 65 degrees!
Both PCs have exactly the same cases (mid tower ATX) with a 120mm rear fan and 80mm front fan.
Sorry guys. I didn't reply for a long time. Here are screenshots after running Prime95.

I flashed the BIOS to the latest available version.
The Real temp test shows Core 0 at 9 and Core 1 at 11, the values change with subsequent tests.
I must add something. On the P45 system, the heatsink of the CPU doesn't feel like 70 degrees. I am pretty sure that I attached the heatsink correctly.
I might add that I am pretty sure that the stock cooler (I use the stock cooler in both systems) is very well attached to processor, and that there is a layer of thermal paste (the one that came with the processor) in between.
Bottomline, why isn't the E8400 in the P45 board acting like the one in the P35 one?
I went over my budget and e got a 4870 instead of the planned 4850! Now this rig has:
E8400
ASUS P5Q-E
Gigabyte HD4870
2x1 GB DDR2-800
750W PSU
I already have an E8400 in another rig (Gigabyte P35-DS3R, 8800GT, 2x1 GB DDR2-800)
I noticed that the CPU temp was much higher than the temp I got for the other system (P35). The P45 system idles at 50 degrees for the CPU, up to 80 degrees when running Prime95. Compare this to the P35 system which idles at 40 and max at 65.
I use CPUID, Real temp and the BIOS for reading the temperatures. In the P45 system, there is a 20 degrees difference between the two cores at idle on Real temp.
I know that the 4870 is a room heater, but I did the fan speed hack and it now idles at 50 instead of 80!
Any help?
Thanks.
For a ASUS P5Q-E motherboard and E8400. I am thinking a 2x1 kit, with another kit some months later.
I heard of problems running all banks with 1066 on some motherboards.
Also can I keep dual channel when using 2x1 and 2x2 kits on the same motherboard for a total of 6 GB with a 64 bit OS?
[QUOTE="Goodfella_no4"][QUOTE="WDT-BlackKat"][QUOTE="Goodfella_no4"][QUOTE="Simsfreak14"][QUOTE="WDT-BlackKat"]Switch PSU to a better, safer brand like Thermaltake, ABS, Hyper, etc.
Switch RAM, Kingston Value is dog food as is any "value" named model, Try 4 GB (2x2GB) G.Skill or Crucial.
Otherwise looks fine.

He dosn't live in the US, they may not have thos brands there.
This is correct. HEC is like the best PSU brand here. As for the RAM, there is Kingston and A-Data. 1066 is also available, but I think 800 will be enough, right? Nobody answered my 2x1 + 2x2 RAM question. Thanks, guys.So where do you live, UK? HEC is a horrible brand there too. Get this and ... for the RAM--->Overclockers too.
There is no way those brands are not available even if you're not in the UK. Short of being in Burkina Faso or some third world hell hole like Naples, Italy, you can find all brands everywhere.
Thanks for your "politeness". I live in Egypt, which is a third world country... But by no means a hell hole.
Egypt is at least a step above Naples, Italy. You likely have trash collectors there. So relax.
Have you tried finding parts via this site? You have to register to get to the links it provides so I can't say anything about whether it's any good, but it's worth a shot.
I am sure that another reader from Naples, Italy will be really angry! Do you live in Naples?
Buying stuff online in Egypt is still not good. People here prefer the retail method. Thanks for the site, though. But you will need to buy things from the store for a proper receipt for those lousy warranty guys... They only offer warranty for products that were imported through the official distributor. They will refuse to honour any warranty unless they have the distributor's sticker on the box along with a receipt.
I wish it was as easy as newegg, but it's not!
