Nope, but exclusives sell systems. It's clear that the PS3 marketing strategy centers around it's exclusives. Note the ad campaign aroundGod of War 3, MLB: The Show and Heavy Rain this year. Modnation Racers is next.

Gears of War sold systems

hell even modern warfare 2 created a spike in 360´s sales

Yes, but Sony tends to try to sell their system based on their 1st party exclusive titles. Whereas Microsoft markets their system with more third party multiplats. If there is a library that depends on multiplats for a boost, it's the Xbox 360 library. I don't think this is debatable.

[QUOTE="ohthemanatee"][QUOTE="TintedEyes"] From what i've seen a lot of PS3 users on this forum (and many others) just state they can play games like Mass Effect on the PC. But then they get angry at Bioware and/or Valve when they state they won't be porting their PC games to their PS3. Noticing a contradiction?Dataleak

Not really. Some PS3 owners prefer Plug-N-Play convienence of a console. What does Valve have to do with Mass Effect?

The people who prefer the convenience of a console, wouldn't own a gaming PC.

Not necessarily. They can own both. For example, I prefer Blu-ray discs, but that doesn't mean I don't own DVDs.

[QUOTE="Gabystelistu95"]The best console of all time is XboX 360 Pro I think because it has wireless networking adapter and you can play Halo 3 just on Xbox 360 (and it does not exist on PS3)HavocV3

lol, now I'm suspecting TC of having an Alt.

pretty strange that an account with less than 5 posts indirectly responds to my first post:lol:

What's an alt?

[QUOTE="ohthemanatee"] So we're agreed then, the PS3 needs the help of another system or else it's library can't stand on it's own. I'm glad we came to that agreementohthemanatee

Huh? The PS3 library isn't supplemented by multiplats. The most popular selling titles so far in 2010 have all been exclusives. (With the exception of FFXIII)

so you're saying more games is a bad thing?

I wouldn't. Look at the demographic of people who own PS3s. (People with 1080p HDTVs, Blu-ray libraries, etc...)

ohthemanatee

So can you prove all PS3 owners have 1080p TV's and blu-ray libraries? and even if you did how does that relate to them owning a gaming centric PC?

I never said I could prove it. I just said I wouldn't doubt it.

[QUOTE="PAL360"]

Mass Effect isnt on PS3 because MS published it.

Mass Effect 2 isnt aswell because it wouldnt make sense to get the second and not the first.

Mass Effect 3 wont be on PS3 for the same reasons as the second one.

At the end PS3 only owners are missing the best series of this gen :P

PAL360

It is true that both Mass Effect 1 & 2 are available on the Xbox but it is also available on PC which I imagine Mass Effect 3 will also be available aftter some time. Those who own a PS3 most likely own a PC which allows them to play the game in the end so it doesn't really matter. MOST PS3 exclusives aren't available on the PC unfortunately so it's difficult to determine such things.

360 exclusives arent available on PC aswell, thats why they are exclusives. 360/PC games are multiplat, still an awesome bonus for overall lineup

Also i doubt most PS3 owners have gaming PCs

I wouldn't. Look at the demographic of people who own PS3s. (People with 1080p HDTVs, Blu-ray libraries, etc...)

Most likely not capable of playing games. However, the gaming PC market in terms of computer sales is larger than the consoles.

It's an assumption, and one based off nothing. Mass Effect 1 & 2, whilst not having the highest system requirements, still require at least a bit of juice.

lundy86_4

Every PC is capable of playing games. Even my cheesy netbook can play old NES and SNES ROMS as well as 1990s games like Kings Quest, Space Quest, Monkey Island, etc...

You're taking what I said too literal. I meant games of the calibre of Mass Effect etc. Current gen games.

Well, in 10 years, netbooks will be able to play Mass Effect. It's simply a matter of time.

you forgot RTS: halo wars vs n/a halo wars wins by defaultshadow_hosi
Well, I decided not to split the strategy category... but I did forget about Halo wars.
