@Fantomass: I'll assume that your ignorance is based on the fact that you know nothing about 20th century American history and you are not old enough to have lived through much of that century. You probably have never been afraid for your life having to drive at night in the south because of what could happen to you. I appreciate that many young white people have not had to experience what many other Americans have had to endure. I've seen a race riot up close, outside of my bedroom window when I was a teen. We aren't talking about the usual overly sensitive PC crap -- this is the real deal, that which was used to bully, to persecute, and to terrorize. There is a HUGE difference, and if you don't get it, you need to pick up a book sometime and study some 19th and 20th century American history.

@Verityrant: I've personally witnessed the difference between how cops treat white and black citizens -- a friend of mine had to stop coming by for our weekly games night because he'd be stopped by the cops nearly every time. DWB (Driving While Black) is treated as a real offense in most of the US. Meanwhile, same neighborhood, I locked my keys in my car at night, and a friend leant me a wire hanger to try to open it. Cops stopped by and gave me a hand breaking into the car. They automatically assumed that it was mine. (What if it hadn't been my car -- the cops would have been complicit in my stealing of a car simply because I was white).

And this happened in the North East -- I've seen far worse elsewhere. I've seen a cop make fun of a cab drivers accent to his face. I've seen two cops try to scare some poor old black man to death -- they were stopped at a traffic light, and the old guy was crossing the street, apparently not fast enough for them, so they accelerated and stopped short, barely hitting him. They were laughing about it.

And then there was the recent idiot cop who got caught by his own worn camera planting evidence. People in the black community have long accused cops of doing this, but it's been widely dismissed as a myth. Well it was a myth, until now.

So yeah, I suppose if you live an isolated life, sticking only with your white friends and only watch Faux news, you could easily come to the conclusion that white privilege is a lie. But take a walk in the real world once in a while, and you'll learn something about how the world really works.

@xOmniCloudx: So it appears. But just MAYBE, if Homecoming is really successful, they will come to the conclusion that additional or longer-term deals might just be in their best interest.

I think it's a mistake to make stand-alone films involving traditional Spidey characters without Spider-man. Venom is just the start. I've also heard about the Black Cat/Silver Sable film, also without Spider-man. I love Black Cat as a character, but not without Spider-man (I'm not terribly familiar with Silver Sable, so cannot comment -- I stopped reading Spider-man back in the 1980s).

@sealionact: I can't tell you what you will or won't like, but I do suggest giving the series more of a chance. It's one of the best things on Television right now. Most of the episodes start with some story about how people brought their gods to the new world. And many of those gods are still around (that's the premise of the story). So the various gods to appear in the story, some are more important than others. The Norse gods certainly play a role, and I believe that Bilquis (the woman you are talking about) will also play a bigger role, although she's only appeared in two episodes so far.

I can't tell you too much without giving away a lot. I will say that they are not throw-away scenes. Everything is there for a purpose, although that purpose may not be obvious, and may take a bit to reach a pay-off.

@frosty988: It makes sense in the context of the story. If you don't get that, then you haven't been watching or paying attention. The whole idea is that these are random people around the world who are connected to one another. If it wasn't a diverse cast, the concept would fail.

I don't know why you have a problem with diversity. Maybe it's your upbringing. My earliest memories are living in the Bronx -- my next door neighbors had escaped from Iron Curtain Hungary, on the other side were a mixed race couple and their kid, about 2 years younger than me (Husband's sister was a famous Broadway actress at the time). Next to them was a Japanese man who was temporarily living in the US while he worked for a Japanese company -- I was best friends with his son. I've worked side by side with muslims and orthodox Jews and Native Americans and so on. I've even roomed with an anti-semite -- boy was that unpleasant for me, a person who was raised Jewish.

My life was not diversity for the sake of diversity. My life is my life, and it's not as different from other people's lives as you might think. It's you, with your life of isolation who's the exception.

@chiefwiggum16: And why would he say that? Obviously you are reading it wrong. I don't know why I have to explain this because it's obvious to me. Your either a troll or you really don't get it. For now let's assume you aren't a troll and let's try again...

When you do not take risks, you get mediocre shows -- that's why there's so much crap on network TV. And no one is going to pay for the same kind of crap that you can get for free. People are only willing to pay for things that they can't get on broadcast TV, and that means doing things that are more original, less formulaic (that's taking a risk). When you aren't following the formula, you are going to end up with some failures. But it's also the best way to make shows that rise above the pack.

Got it?

@pork7: Board gaming isn't like that at all -- some conventions might be like that because of people who are trying to find a publisher, and conventions are the best way to have a face to face with one. The cream rises, but there will always be reminders of Sturgeon's Law.

I really missed Reality Check. THANK YOU SO MUCH for bringing it back, even if its temporary. I now feel like I have an actual reason to come to Gamespot again. "Reality Check" (and "The Point") were the only features that would ever get me excited to visit this website. Yeah, I am curious to see if there are any upcoming games that I might consider buying at some point, but the answer to that question is almost always 'No' nowadays. So too often I come here and feel like I'm wasting my time. But I absolutely Love science stories, and if you tie it into any of my hobbies (like computer games), that's cool too. But because I don't like mainstream video games (with few exceptions), all too often I Feel like I'm wasting my time here. But not today.

Multiple personalities means that he has Dissociative Identity Disorder, NOT Schizophrenia. They are two different mental illnesses (well, technically, Schizophrenia is more like a family of different mental illnesses, none of which are the same as what you described).

@xdude85: It doesn't make everything in the article invalid, but it does demonstrate how they manipulate people and stories using images that have nothing to do with the story that they wrote. See my post above for other examples of this.
