i hold my opinion to the actual release

who knows its a movie game

BoxFan86

It's not based on the movie, it's based on the books, that's why the beginning of the game is set before the events in the film. I imagine there will be various other differences too. That said, I was disappointed with the demo. Too many cutscenes and "press this button within X number of seconds" moments.

Here in the UK we don't have problems with school shootings, and indeed our effort at gun crime is pathetic compared to America. Perhaps people like Thompson should be less concerned with any effect video games have, and more concerned about the apparent ease with which a child can obtain a lethal weapon in America, bring it into school/college/university and murder a load of people.

Or, you know, they could try actually enforcing the M restriction and stop kids walking in and buying these games. At least then the parents have better control over it.

They could set it in the future with giant ninja robots fighting the evil space pirates of Alpha-Centauri. That would flop it pretty well.

It has already been made obvious that DVD is fine for this generation of games. Oh no, you have to change discs every 8 hours for a JRPG? When HAVEN'T you had to change discs for one? As it is, there is no indication that this generation of strategy, fps, action and sport games will ever need more than one DVD disc. Blu-ray was an expensive waste of time and money, great if you want to watch high-def films, but for everyone else they've paid an extra £100 just so they don't have to change discs when playing Final Fantasy. Hooray.

Videos to dont determine how good a video game is, my brothers. Would it not be wiser to patiently wait and play the game before we start deciding it is a scar on the Earth? Split second clips can not give you the satisfaction of playing.ATW_machine

Unless you have a demo lying around that you'd like to share with us then these videos are the only thing we have to comment on. Besides, that was gameplay footage there, how would it be any different if you were pushing the buttons instead of a developer?

The combat did look pretty bad it has to be said. The AI couldn't decide if it was going to attack the player or just let him beat the crap out of it and killing the AI involved swinging a lot until it was dead. Unfortunately, Condemned showed perfectly how you can make melee combat gritty and intense, and as a result it makes the footage in this video look outdated. Here's hoping they give it a kick up the backside before release.

Actually, STALKER *was* known for its graphics until they delayed the damn thing so long it fell behind. In particular, the day-night cycle WAS going to be the most sophisticated ever for an FPS game, then they decided to let everyone else beat them to it.

Randomly generated levels are always awful. You can't expect a computer to randomly cobble together a good-looking level that is well balanced and flows nicely. It works in two dimensions (like the old Nethack games) but not 3, especially now when level design demands intricate details and not just a big square room with one prop in it.

One would expect a 2-year-old game to be outdone by an upcoming release. I think it would be painfully embarrassing for Sony if MGS4 DIDN'T kick Gears of War into a hat.

I wonder if there will be any significant improvements in GeOW2, that tech video they showed was for UE3 NOT specifically for GeOW (even though they did use its art assets), so we are still waiting for the first in-game screenshot/footage of GeOW2.

I can't really remember. I think it was the original Elite on the commodore64 which I played with my dad, but it might have been Fayrie Tayle on our old 386 (with 40mb HDD and 64k RAM!).

Only noobs fall for the martyrdom. Experienced players know not to get too close after killing someone. yucky_straw

It's still daft that everyone explodes upon death, and it can be frustrating in tight areas where grenade spam becomes an issue due to the number of people dying.
