A very entertaining game. However, the upgrade/progression system is such a wasted opportunity. If the developers insisted upon using QTE's, they should have introduced each new move or skill with a multi-part QTE, where there's a back-and-forth, edge-of-your-seat, close-call kind of dynamic. As you run into more of the same situations, you would get better and more efficient at the moves, and the exchanges would gradually reduce to single-button actions, making room for even more detailed QTE's/moves, and so on. The progression would be gameplay-focused, and the moves would actually originate in events that you experience. Instead, we just get random QTE's and skill menus/trees. Oh well, maybe the next one!
Cool review, I'm a big fan of the game. The scene where Susan meets the Pest Control Man outside the apartment is absolutely incredible. You should check out the developer's previous game, Downfall. It's a bit more rough around the edges, and can get a little shaky thematically, but still it's pretty good.
The scene where Susan meets the Pest Control Man and the chapter that follows stands as one of the greatest, most memorable episodes in horror gaming history.
