Awesome...so you just need a video card ($99) and a CPU ($116), which cost over half the price of a PS4, to play Fallout 4?

and when you account for the rest of the stuff you still need like ram and case + shipping and tax that shit is $500 minimum and that's being generous. Herms always over-exaggerate the affordability of PC hardware.

From what I understand, the CPUs are the primary bottleneck on all three consoles of this generation.

I also share this understanding.

Which is probably why we aren't seeing any real advances in anything outside of fancier graphics. Since the CPU is the main source of power for things like AI and physics.

then people your understanding is not very good.

PS4 and Xbone don't really have any bottlenecks, they just lack raw power in general. They are very balanced machines, a first for a console. You could say they both are the very best consoles that have ever been built.

And on a side note, devs still aren't really using GPGPU. I think Tomb Raider for the Xbone will be the first game to truly harness gpu computing. And then pretty much every AAA game next year is following suit.

things have changed. Too many angry hipsters these days that have scores on metacritic and for that fabled 95+ you can't have a single score below a 7.

I think only a Nintendo IP, which don't offend anybody, would be able to reach it. Or maybe one of those shitty Media Molecule games, those have a chance too.

Who in their right mind thought that costume would be a good idea?

Japan because they aren't afraid of the human body. Although they do censor their porn....

Other than the multiplayer system there's nothing super revolutionary, it's just extremely high quality game design. The gameplay mechanics, art, music, level design, and basically every single element of the games are polished to a mirror sheen. They're games for gamers. Most RPGs these days, like Skyrim or Dragon Age, are games for casuals. Dark Souls is the real deal, for people who wanna spend their time playing a game tailored for core players.

No, its just borrows from Zelda.

This is just an ignorant statement. Souls borrows heavily from Castlevania the most. It doesn't have much in common with the Zelda formula. Have you played these games?

haha you can't be serious. All the Soul games have issues with frame-rate and in the case of Blighttown there are some serious issues with level design in these games.

@-God-:

why pirate something that is already free? Most of their revenue on PC comes from shitty f2p games.

;)

What better way to put that $600 GPU to the test than by playing games that look like they were made for the Gameboy, right?

FFXIII had insane production values, great looking characters and a kinda decent battle system but all ruined by design. Linear, restrictive, repetitive and boring.

It depends for me. For FPS like CS:S, I think 60fps is too low. I usually need minimum 75fps and normally it is at 100+ fps.

If you're playing in a 100 tick server you need to actually maintain 100 FPS or above to ensure your outbound data transmission gets sent to the server. The netcode of the game is directly tied to your framerate, and if you're only operating at 75 FPS your game is only sending data to the server 75 times per second per how much you as the client are actually updating actions. On top of this the Source engine mechanically starts being affected if your drop below 72 FPS.

I hear that a lot, which is why many people are complaining about the advantage the PC gamers will have over console gamers on Street Fighter V. But if the frame-rate is tied to the netcode then there shouldn't be any advantage, right? In fact, it might even be detrimental to the guy playing below or above the specified framerate because it would disrupt the timing of the client and even worse if it's P2P based where the host always has priority.

it depends on if the Xbone uses the cloud or not to deliver a superior experience.

I beat this game yesterday and it was a bit weird because the game plays like Street Fighter II.

The combat relies on hit-box like a fighting game, you can cancel combos into specials like in a fighting game and boss fights rely a lot on invisibility frames, footsies and matchups just like if it were a fighting game. And yes the specials are pulled off with dragon punch and fireball kind of motions.
