If WoW was just "another boring MMO", explain the insane subscription count and the increased attention to the MMO genre thanks to WoW. Obviously the 9 million people currently playing and the growth within the genre thanks to WoW disagrees with you.

There are more people in general not playing games at all. What's your point? That's one hell of a grasp at straws you've attempted.
my point is that while wow is a great game, is not a must have title, most gamers i know hate the whole idea of the mmo game for the single porpuse that it usually is a game with repetitive gameplay and lack of depth, it has a huge player base for sure, but most people are not willing to pay a monthly fee for it, and if mmo's keep growing like this very soon we will be payng fee's for every kind of genre it will be hell.
so my point basicly is, mmo's are not the cup of tea of every single gamer, if that guy tought it was boring he is entitled to his opinion and you shoudnt scold him for thinking that
Lack of depth? wow, coming from a kid who gave gears of war a 10, gears of war is trash compared to WoW. MMORPG"s are not for console noobs who need autoaim for FPS's and the like.
