That's the first step of Lucid Dreaming. You have to realize you're dreaming first, then you can take control of it. I imagine no one can really keep hold for too long without some degree of practice though.

Was the ship that sent out the distress signal the Alien's ship or another ship that had been taken over by the xenomorphs before/after crashing? Were the Aliens indigenous and took the ship over after it crashed? I know they find the "pilot" with the chest exploded, but then again the entire inside of the ship is reminiscent of the nest in Aliens, plus the amount of eggs.Rekunta

I always assumed that the pilot/crew had started the distress beacon before dying to the xenomorphs.
