If
By Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies
Or being hated, don't give way to hating
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream-and not make dreams your master:
If you can think and not make thoughts your aim:
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:
If you can bar to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knave to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings-nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the earth and everything that's in it,
And-which is more-you'll be a Man, my son!
Ozymandias
by percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822)
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert...Near them, on the sand,
Halfsunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Mothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
Invictus (latin for unconquerable)
By William Ernest Henley (1849-1902)
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In thefell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And ye tthe menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul

Top tens of heavy metal encyclopedia
by Heylin_Force on Comments
this is a direct qutoe from this book called "The Encyclopedia Of Heavy Metal" this is what it looks like.
that's the book, if you own it then you know how accurate this is.
and I QUOTE: (put bold the part i found interesting)
Top 10 Bands With The Most Rabid Fan Base
If you value your life, you are hereby advised to keep your mouth shut when in the presence of anybody wearing a T-shirt bearing the name of the bands on this list. IN the case of Rush, for example, you should know that not only are you putting yourself in physical danger by disparaging them, but their fams make their personal mission to turn Rush-dislikers into Rush fans. So unless you want an army of Hessians stalking you at all hours, dummy up.
1. Manowar
2. Rush
3. Slayer
4. Iron Maiden
5. Emperor
7. King Diamond
8. Carnivore
9. King's X
10. Iced Earth
well. i also want to point out that Cygnus X-1 was #1 on the TOp 10 Goofiest/Most Awesome SOngs and that neil Peart and Geddy Lee bot htopped top 10 greatest drummers and bassists respectively (or at least metal bassists and drummers which i don't think they're metal more progressive rock with a tiny bit of metal in them but that's not really the point is it h_p ;))
Top Ten Greatest Rock Bands Ever
by Heylin_Force on Comments
read the title, here goes
1. Beatles
9. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
-Honorable Mention
i want to pointout that this is a list of ROCK AND ROLL bands not METAL ok? so no crap about the obvious leaving out of bands like Black Sabbath or Ozzy Osbourne or Metallica. I'm aware of their existence and will get around to them eventually. I'm also aware I probably left out alot of people but i made this in 3 minutes and 1 in the morning, probably will make another, updated one eventually. But I still think the top ten is great and am only afraid i left out an honorable mention, which i will fix the minute i realize it, or am pointed out to it.
Also i believe that some bands can be rock and metal. Prime example is Scorpions or Kiss or Alice Cooper. Just because a band has a metal song doesn't make them a metal band *coughheylin_princecough* ok?
*EDIT*i had this cool thing where each band (honorable mentions and all) had a link to one of their songs but stupid TV.com won't let me post them so, what are you gonna do? :)
