I meant not all Gamecube systems have the port for the component cable. Even if I did buy a cable, I would have to buy a new Gamecube just to use it. That kinda sucks lol. I wonder why it had 2 different ports... My component cable for PS2 uses the same port for RCA and component. In fact, my PS2 component cable even works on my PS3.

Ha woops, that's what happens when you're tired...hahaha
Wikipedia says this:
"Nintendo found that the digital AV port was used by less than one percent of users, leading to the removal of the port from consoles with model number DOL-101 manufactured after May 2004"
I dunno though, I do like how the N64/GC/SNES all use the same composite cables. Has saved me a couple times...my cat likes to chew wires :(

just as a side note can't u play it on wii in 480p
im_mr_brown
I could, if I had a Wii :P. I was trying to prevent buying one but I might end up doing it anyway for the big three (Mario, Metroid & Zelda).
Early model GC systems had a component input for progrssive scan, but Nintendo removed it from later consoles because they stated that less than 1% of GC owners used the feature.
As for the cables, I think if you want them you'll have to pay a good price. And yes, the Wii will play progressive scan gamecube games. You have to hold down B before you start a progressive scan compatitble game and it'll ask you if you want to use progressive scan.

So, not all Gamecubes can do progressive scan even if they had cables? That's good to know before I went out and spent $40+ for a cable 8).
Thanks guys!
If it supports progressive scan it will say so on the back of the game..Early model GC systems had a component input for progrssive scan, but Nintendo removed it from later consoles because they stated that less than 1% of GC owners used the feature.
