It's really not hyped anymore, because the majority of people hated the demo.

I voted "Good brawler"

dkdk999

it wasnt never ever hyped. in fact it used to be much more hated then now.

Alot of people had high expectations for the game, I'd call that hype.

I voted masterpiece because my expectations were so incredibly low that i wasn't even about to play the demo. But extreme boredom made me give it a chance and i loved it. I plan on buying it come launch day.

"real gamers" dont always follow mainstream crap like gears 2

luvmesomchicken

Oh please, spare us. That was the most unnecessary and irrelevant post i have ever seen. Every single game is mainstream to a point, you just needed a reason to make an ass of yourself. Well hurrah because you succeeded in making yourself idiot of the day.

Well, i feel like they are adding too many gimmicks to Gears 2. I mean, chansaw duels? Crawling away when you are down? Stopping Power (that is what you guys where talking about, slowing down when hit)? I think the multiplayer in Gears 1 didn't need changing at all, it was fun and different from the usual fragfest. Now they are trying to add too many dumb gimmicks that really won't add too the gameplay in any way. Who the hell said that Gears 1 ever needed a flamethrower? Nobody? Well, you get one anyway. I bought Gears on emergence day and loved it. Then i stopped playing for awhile and recently picked it back up and i love it again. I feel as though that all these changes are doing is scaring their main demographic, Gears 1 lovers, and trying to attract other people with these uneccesary changes. I think that any of you who didn't like Gears 1, think these changes will make you love Gears 2, i think you are sadly mistaken.

But hey that's just my opinion, i'm sure someone out there will have a countering argument.

I agree with you, but these added things mostly just add to the game and add dertail. People wont always chainsaw duel or crawl, its just cool that you can.

Also, the little additions make the game less "cheap" in certain circumstances, like if you both chainsaw,. instaead of one of you getting a random kill, then there is a duel

That's understandable, but if you were to ask me, i'd say Gears 1 was the best game of this generation and didn't need anything added. I'm going to dig into the old pocket o' sayings and say "Dont fix it if it isn't broken".

I believe you have to create another character in order to get the achivement. I don't really see the point in making us play a harder difficulty with a character at max level. I say just make a new character, then they ask you what difficulty you want before you start playing.

I don't mind the elevators because they're a decent enough cover for loading but make the conversations less awkward between characters.

  • However, how come Tali is the only Quarian in Mass Effect? Don't all Quarians go on a Pilgrimage?
  • The mako parts are very dull. It either handles as well as a dehidrated, sedated camel or it turns into the freakin Batmobile and climes 80 degree mountain's, for God's sake!
  • I want to visit a modern Earth
  • More planets to visit per galaxy
  • More cities per planets
  • More stuff to do in cities besides side quests and buy weapons+armors. Wouldn't it be cool to actually see Hamlet performed by Elcors, or an alien comedy club?
  • More main story missions to increase game time and some side missions that are actually fun unlike the A.I in the citadel that has you running around the Citadel
  • And finally...more involvement of the main antogonist!!! You see Saren twice in the whole game. Actually 3 times if you count the hologram chat with the Council. I never felt as if he really was a bad man. In the game I actually thought that he had teamed with the Reapers to try and prevent destruction of the Universe. But then I read the( terrible) prologue and I realize that he actually WAS a bast***. Some coherence please, Drew Karpyshyn!

I have high expectations for Mass Effect II and I hope Bioware delivers and doesn't rush the game like it did with KOTOR II.

HardcoreBunni

Hmmm, I read the prologue before the game came out and i have to say, i thought it filled me in nicely with the general backstory of this massive universe that Bioware just drops you into. Also, KOTOR 2 wasn't developed by Bioware, Obsidian took it over for some reason.

Yes it is, i just grabbed it a few days ago new for $20. Great game so far, atmosphere is the main thing in this game, very few corridors have any source of light whatsoever and all you have is a tiny flashlight so it definately will scare you. The melee combat is amazing and bloody, you actually feel great as you beat the stupid out of some homeless guy with a bit of pipe, and teeth actually will fly out among clouds of blood........i thought that was cool. The games difficulty is just right, enemies are smart and will block or parry your attacks. Their own attacks are also timed very well, and they will kick the crap out of ya if you get careless. The enemies are also smart enough to get the hell out of there if you beat them up enough, they'll run away, hide behind something in the environment and try to get the jump on you again. Really, my only complaint with the game is that when you get a gun, the shooting is horrible. Sure, you feel alot safer with a 12 gauge resting in your hands, but in all actuality, youre better off with a pipe or something.

[QUOTE="sargentbotk"]Is gears really that short for people to be beating it in 2 days? How much hours would you have to be playing to beat it in that amount of time?sargentbotk

Depending on the difficulty. I got 5 days out of it on hardened, but i also had school to go to, so it also depends on the amount of time you have to play.

Are there unlockable difficulties? Also, does it have some replay value?

You have to play through casual or hardcore to unlock insane difficulty. As for replay value, i played through the game once on every difficulty, at least. Also, i played through it on co-op i dont know how many times. So yes, there is a bit of replay value.

[QUOTE="IISF-SniperII"]It was much better back when it came out, in its prime, more populated multiplayer. I still highly recommend it, it's a good game to have part of your collection. Good singleplayer, the multiplayer is probably the best on the 360. in fact, i just went back and started playing it again the other day. Just as fun as it was on Emergence Day. If you have not bought Gears Of War, you are not a true 360 owner.sargentbotk

That last statement made me feel sad a bit, but I know what you mean. I'm planning on getting it soon. So thanks for the insult boost. :P

Glad to have my insults go toward something good, heh. Also, Bioshock is a good game and all, but not worth a buy. It is an awesome game, i loved it, but that's probably because i didn't buy it. It is short, probably the same length as Gears Of War, but Gears is much more fun. Also, the lack of multiplayer for Bioshock really hurts it. I'd say rent it and beat it.
