Isnt that a feature thats been in PCs for years? Hence the BSOD when your computer overheats and the cooling is unable to compensate?

WTH is wrong with MS? Why couldn't they say that in the first place?

Mystery_Writer
This right here is the problem. Its like MS wants all this bad press. A lot of the flak they have been getting is mostly due to misunderstandings. They are being so vague and forgetful regarding things that consumers are concerned about. They announce and announce features, but completely ignore the topics that people care about. If the PR department actually listened to whats going on, most of these problems could have been avoided. I truly believe that had the Xbone reveal been handled correctly, most people would have gone along with the original vision. Sure there may have been a few changes here and there, but for the most part, their original vision would still have worked. But they completely messed up the reveal and everything else after that, that now they are literally trying to distance themselves as much as possible from the original idea.

[QUOTE="Rocker6"]

[QUOTE="balfe1990"]That's what I'm bemoaning here. They had an original vision, for better or worse, and had to twist and contort it to meet the demands of a vocal subset of gamers on the internet. Which is f*cking tragic in my opinion. They've just stripped their initial plans down to it's bare bones and have re-dressed it as a shittier PS4.

They're going to get stomped as a result. We could have had some truly great battles between the two consoles, but now it'll come down to X1 getting squashed underfoot.

I'm not going to get either console, but at one stage, I was thinking, if I had to get one I'd get the X1. The PS4 certainly looked attractive, but by and large, it's a more powerful 360. It's not doing anything particularly noteworthy to shake the console space up because, at it's core, it's a weak gaming PC. And it's pretty hilarious to see people getting so worked up about a gimped computer.

At least the Xbox One and it's original strike plan could have made things interesting and given gaming the next shove in the right direction. And yes, I'm talking about always-online, Kinect req. etc. All those idiots bleating "NSA, kinect lol" bollocks be damned.

They don't realise all they're getting with the PS4 is a refined and medium specced PC. Just LOL.

balfe1990

Good post there, sadly, seems MS is completely lost at this point, due to all the backlash, they have no idea what they're doing anymore, and true, that will result in a mess, the console will have no chance against the PS4 where Sony knew exactly what they're doing, and got a warm public reception for it.

As much as I disliked most of the original X1 practices, to entirely backtrack on everything and badly copy the PS4 is much worse, MS should've done a better job at listening to the audience, refine the vision and adjust things to be more "gamer-friendly", but since that didn't happen, we now have a very good chance of X1 flopping badly on the market, and if a high-profile console, a major investment flops badly, all SW aside, that definitely won't be a good thing for the industry.

Yep, they're just floundering and gasping for air at this point and it's uncomfortable to watch. Thanks to their terrible start, everything they do from here on in is met with suspicion and criticism and Sony have just coasted by on their failure.

Sony doesn't need a marketing dept. when they have MS. They really need to pull something special out of the bag to redeem themselves. Like I mean, incredible, incredible games. System sellers, otherwise they're f*cked.

I was never a fan of the original MS vision for the Xbox 1, but you do make some valid points. I think MS's major problem was that they were so out of touch with the consumers. They acted so arrogant and didnt put any effort into trying to appease consumers. They could have introduced their console in a different manner, they could have expressed their views and ideas in a clear concise manner that consumers could understand. It would have made for a lot less bad press. For instance, the Kinect. They let rumors about it spying and all that stuff go on for way too long. They should have just come out, straight from the get go explaining in a clear cut manner the privacy issues. I think what really hurt MS this upcoming gen was their attitude. They just didnt seem to give a damn about the consumers' concerns, and it came to bite them in the ass. Add to that the fact that Sony went for the jugular, and MS was pretty much screwed. Now they find themselves in a situation were all that near decade worth of planning, investment and policies have been completely scrapped and they are trying to scramble together a new direction for their console.

[QUOTE="tdkmillsy"][QUOTE="Supabul"]

MS hasn't forgotten how Sony took the piss out of them at there E3 conference and are really not going to let Sony think there walking away with the new generation of gamers

At gamescom they'll announce an X1 launch console without Kinect for $349

Supabul

I hope not, I'd prefer a reduction with keeping Kinect in. Its a major differentiator between the two and its needs to stay. So the few paranoid people on these forums can now unplug their Kinect to feel safe, while keeping there mobiles and laptops connected to the internet. Most people will use it at least once and then really like it and it will still be a success.

I suppose MS want everyone to have Kinect so Dev's will take advantage of it and maybe we'll see some great games, but I have Kinect for Xbox 360 and it never get's used all that voice and navigation stuff is pointless It would be better for MS to make a cheaper console without Kinect and give people the option, I'd rather a cheaper console without kinect

The sad thing is that MS knows for an absolute fact that no one wants a Kinect, that's why they have back pedelled and pretty much changed all the core ideas they had for the console. Remember when the console was first announced? Kinect was the center piece of the entire announcement. Now its not even necessary to have it connected for the system to function. That drastic kind of change clearly shows that they are aware that no one wants the Kinect, yet they are still trying to shove it down our throats. I personally think they realized how much money they spent designing and manufacturing all these Kinect units, that to just completely ignore it right now and release a Kinect-less console would be to major a hit for them. Its a case where they ran with something too far and now they may as well just see it through.

Its gonna be more of the same. But that's not all bad. The gameplay in COD games is very tight and fun, the only problem is that I've been on this ride many times, so i know after a week or 2 i will be bored once again. For that reason, im buying it used/on sale.

How does that negate the million other improvements already made to a largely perfect controller?

Yeah, it doesn't. A minor inconvenience.

Snugenz

if it were 'perfect' it wouldnt need improvements

and come on, still using AA batteries in 2013?

dont be an apologist

I wish my DS3 had the option to use AA batteries, if it did i would'nt have to replace or buy a new battery online for the one that just died.

You are officially the first person I know of, who's DS3 battery died. I bought my PS3 launch day, still have the sixaxis from then and it works like a charm.
