Mandatory military service does not automatically entail defense of the country.

i think you misinterpreted what he said. he might of been using sarcasm by making a connection between military service and community service, showing that, in a slippery slope kind of way, that they are virtually both bad things if one were ever to be mandated.

All those things are good. People need to step up an accept responsablity for themselves and the community. Obama understands this concept unlike many spoiled, and lazy Americans.

my family would be let down if I were to die for some BS cause, and they didn't have me anymore
the government doesn't care about all the children that now have to go fatherless. We're not going to have some "next" life where we can make it up later, this is it right now
