Yet, I am sitting here having viewed the MGSIV trailer, and obviously other trailers like Heavenly Sword, Drakes Fortune, Ratchet Clank, Killzone 2, and Lair and am extremely impressed of the visuals that the PS3 is putting out in it's first year. scoobiesnackarf

The key word there is trailers. Wait and see what the finished product looks like during gameplay before comparing games. They might look better, or they might look worse. I remember being really impressed by Motorstorm trailers and then I actually played the game...

Is that a video game or an actual real race?

Wow! We are getting close folks. Games that look like real life are going to be here sooner than we all thought.HuhJustaBox

No we aren't. That looks nothing like an actual photo of a race. The background detail isn't very good at all.

[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]We all know 360 GPU > PS3 GPU.Dualshockin
According to who,Itagaki(an Xbox dev) or Carmack(a PC dev) ;) ?

Or anyone that knows anthing about hardware, including a number of PC hardware sites. Both GPUs are based on older PC graphics card technology btw.

It would depend on how well the controls work on 360 and how much the game relies of twitch gameplay. Would also depend on if you have a HDTV and how big it is.

I'm willing to bet that this game had to make some serious cuts just to be on one disc. It may not be too noticeable, however I'm willing to bet when it comes to the PC or so, that it will have a "Director's Cut" which would have more planets an galaxies and content that couldn't fit on one DVD. It's just a hunch, but I wouldn't be suprised if it happened either.

yoshi_64

Of course it would but it would be wrong to assume disc space would be the reason for that being the case. The extra development time would be the main reason. KOTOR did not come close to using up the max space avilable on Xbox but the PC version had extras, the same is true of Fable and I would bet the extra development time they had for the PC version was the reason.

[QUOTE="Atilac"]In the paraphrased words of one Oblivion Creator. "Less than 50% of the power, but 100% of the RAM" ;)

RAm is always going to be a big issue with these current gen consoles. 360 is in a slightly better situation but I don't know why Sony and MS just didn't go with 1GB of RAM.

Would have cost to much.

They could have cut back in other areas. The 360 could stand to have cooler running and less powerful CPU and GPU. The PS3 is already expensive and could have cut back in many areas, blue ray being the most obvious one.

[QUOTE="myke2010"]I don't mind switching out disks, heck my some of my all time favorite games had more then one disk : Any FF game on the PS MGS Didn't stop those from being classics. But I still have to agree, MS screwed up by making the HDD optional this time around. Would have saved the devs a lot of problems.Ragashahs
what happens when you have to change disc every time you want to explore the other half of the milky way galaxy. for linear games disc changing if fine but for free roame games it takes away from it

The developer would have to work around it so it's not annoying. Take Shenmue for example. It was kind of free roaming and used 4 discs but changing the discs was never annoying.

Oblivion fit onto one disc just fine, but look at all the reused data in that game.. The textures im every dungeon was the same. I don't know if that was by design or what, considering that morrowind was the same way on PC.

farrell2k

That was due to the budget the developers had. They had plenty of space left on the disc. Even if developers had unlimited disc space they don't have unlimited time and money.

When it's released the two biggest current gen games will be single DVD games - Oblivion and Mass Effect. Blue ray is nice and all but developers have yet to use that much space with anything besides FMV or uncompressed files. I don't pretend to know what will happen in the future though.
