Thank God It's Friday

Finally it's Friday - for some reason this week has seemed to have at least three extra days in it. To add insult to injury, the other half has today off, while I have to haul my tired behind off to work. It's just not fair  I bought Serenity this week - I have so many friends who say that I'm crazy for buying movies when so many are available to download, but my theory is this... If I want the studios to continue making movies that I like to watch, I have to make some sort of small monetary contribution. If the DVD sales for Serenity are good enough, combined with the box office receipts, perhaps Fox might agree to another one. Or at the very least, another movie I would enjoy seeing. For every one I want to see there are so many that leave me cold, so I try to fund the ones I do want to watch, and live in hope there will be another good one somewhere along the way.

Fun With 'Puters...

Well, am in the process of reloading all my stuff back on to my laptop - other half reformatted it for me the other night, so now it's my turn to have some *cough* fun. Two more days of work, then off for three for Christmas - yay!! Sadly, though, am looking forward to it more for the three day weekend, not the holiday. Really not looking like excitement is a factor this year. Might be, on an individual basis (sister, etc.) but as a whole, would really just like to sleep in for three days, and not have to worry about driving around in nasty weather picking up grumpy people. Time to go do that now, as a matter of fact - I do them a disservice - my passengers are not grumpy, for the most part - just not awake, and at this time of the morning, neither am I... :P

Christmas Has Been Cancelled...

Well, part of it anyway. Each year we do a "friend's Christmas", usually on the 26th or 27th - well, this year I'm back to work for the 27th, and the 26th is somehow not good for somebody. I have to say I'm not too upset that it's been delayed (not truly cancelled) because it's also been moved to my house (my friend is apparently too disorganized to host this year - welcome to my world, and btw, I've been hosting for the last six years - this is year seven) so I'm going to need the extra time to get the place in order for guests. That was the big reason I was glad someone else was going to host it this year - get really sick of the frantic "omg, we have to clean this up!!!" every year... I am truly just not in the Christmas mood this year. :(

Here We Go Again

Well, it's Monday, five more days until the weekend - again. I've come to the conclusion that Monday actually isn't so bad - one spends a large part of the day in a fog, going through the motions, so to speak, so the realization that there are five more days to go doesn't truly sink in. Tuesday, however, is bad - that's when the fog starts to clear and the truth dawns... There is *still* the better part of the week to go before one can do whatever it is that one does on the weekends. Wednesday is good - one is cheerful, because the week is half gone (if you're the optimistic type), but Thursday is bad again - it's just a tease... It's the day before Friday, thus taunting one with the nearness of the weekend. Friday is a day to be endured until it is all over, then one can rejoice in one's freedom. Can you tell I think about this too much sometimes? :P

Getting there...

For some reason, this year the Christmas spirit bug just hasn't bitten hard, and I don't know why. Usually I love the season, and have a ball decorating and getting fun gifts for my friends and loved ones - this year, just not so much. However, this evening, I watched the Grinch - the real one, the animated one with the voice of Boris Karloff, and the wonderful, silly songs by Dr. Seuss. I don't even want to know how old that cartoon is, but I do remember watching it every year when I was a kid - it just wasn't Christmas if I hadn't seen the Grinch... :D

Weekend - Yay!!!

Thank goodness it's finally Saturday - the snowstorm that was to come didn't really, but there was still enough snow to make life very interesting for a little while. I drive for a living, and honestly, when most people see snow their brains all leak out their ears and they totally forget how to drive. Puppy girl is off to the vet today for her annual check-up - vaccinations and the like. So she's had her bath and her clip, so she looks absolutely adorable. Poor girl, she goes through all that to get beautiful for the vet - she's not going to be pleased... :(

By the way...

I was going to let people know to PM me about something, but then I actually thought about it, and realized that I don't even know why I'm posting these blogs because as far as I can tell no one reads them. *sigh* Oh well, I'm going to need something to do during the snowstorm that's on the way, so I suppose I can just keep babbling for a while. :P

Brrr....

It's so cold today - second day in a row... :( It's -18C - that's 0F for the metrically challenged. The fun part is I get to go to work not knowing if my vehicle is going to have any heat - and I get to spend four hours in it... sucks... Ah well, I suppose I'll just bundle up like Nanook of the North, and hope for the best :P

24 Revisited

As you may be able to tell, I've been watching my season three DVDs of 24 - such a good show, so exciting. I actually watched this season when it was broadcast, but missed a couple so was nice to find out exactly what happened with the DVDs. I know the continuity between seasons is virtually nil - it's only characters that have remained so far, the story lines take leaps and bounds through time and circumstance - but I still felt that I should refresh myself with season three once again before venturing into the unknown territory of season four. How can I not be glued to my tv screen when it is broadcast, you ask? Easy. I get up at an ungodly hour of the morning, so everything I watch is taped. Every once in a while, I screw up the taping. This is what happened with season four. Not only did I miss some, I missed some of the very first episodes which set up the whole storyline for the season (as much as it can for a show that twists and turns as much as this one does). As a result, I gave it up as a lost cause, and decided to wait for the DVD release, which as we all know was last Tuesday - YAY!!! :D Besides, this way I don't have to wait a week to find out what happened, nor do I have to put up with commercials (oh darn :P)

Wow

Okay, done pouting now :D Went away this morning at 44% and came back this afternoon at 91% - first word out of my mouth was "Wow!" Didn't realize it could go up that fast, or that I had done that much lately... :P Yes, I have no life *sigh*
