Alex Kidd in Miracle World is still one of the best old school platformers out there. What the hell are you talking about FirstDiscovery ! If they kept the gameplay similar to Miracle World but made the game 2.5D, Like New Super Mario Bros or the recent remake of Bionic Commando (the 2.5D version), then I think it could be brilliant...and far better than ANY of the Sonic games.

The one thing I think the must do next time is make the thing more ergonomic. when the Playstation first came out we had simple control 'pads' but things have come a long way since then. First there was the very comfortable GC controller then the Xbox 360 controller, and even Nintendo's Nunchuck controller have shown us that there are ways to make a controller fit and feel much more comfortable in the hand.

I saw a signature on this board that said:

"Saying the Wii won the console war is like saying McDonalds won the culinary war".

I thought this summed up the Wii very well. I was in Game the other day and I was looking at the VAST wall dedicated to the Wii. Seriously, the level of tat on display was amazing. I can understand the Wii as a second console, but if you chose it as your main console this generation... have a tissue.

Is the tissue for crying or having a wank

So, where have all those people that said LBP would flop gone?

Official PlayStation Magazine (UK) 10/10
Gamereactor 10/10
Eurogamer 9/10

It is also worth noting the Eurogamer gave Metal Gear 8/10 - harsh markers. Their biggest complaint of LBP? - that the level editor was too advanced and let you do too much!

I certainly didn't say it would flop in terms of score because I knew it looked great and thought it would score well, as long as they didn't mess anything up too drastically, but I did say it probably wouldn't sell much beyond the core users and I still think that will be the case. I think it will do pretty well among the main PS3 crowd, and probably sell pretty good numbers (wouldn't be suprised if it went into the millions of units), but I still don't see it really brining in many new players or going beyond the sterotypical gamer crowd much.

The SNES D-Pad is the champ 1 million % (NES' D-Pad is virtually the same of course).

He predicted pretty much every single thing that we are now seeing in both the Wii and DS way back bafore the Revolution was even shown (both the old stuff and the new stuff). He even designed a controller that was pretty much exactly like the Wiimote before it was shown. I wonder if all his predictions will come true? I wish I had a link to that thread/list...

Why is it so slow to type or more precisely delete text in these forums? Is there a known issue, has anyone reported this, and is anything being done about it? It's really quite frustrating and it's not a problem with other forums...like IGN.

I think RE4 was the greatest revival of a video game franchise ever. Its been released on the Gamecube, then on the PS2, then on the PC, and finally on the Wii. But which version do you think is the best of this modern classic?

I'd say Wii because of the superb aiming. It's really fun to aim with the remote, and it's probably the one game where I think the developers really took their time with the Wii controls. Yes, it's a re-make of the PS2 version, but I don't care: The gameplay is addictive and incredibly entertaining. Playing it on the Wii is like playing a whole new game. It's too bad that the majority of Wii games do not take advantage of the motion sensing capabilities like RE4. :[

Yes. The developers really took their time with the Wii controls...yet they didn't even bother to allow you to aim scoped weapons with the pointer...and you use the same waggle motion over and over when there are far superior alternatives (see how Nintendo uses dual motion on the Wiimote and Nunchuck to make the character run in Disaster: Day of Crisis for a superio solution). They also still have the stupid "hold another button to make your character run" when the analog nature of the analog stick is perfect for this. The character also turns as though he only uses 8 directions (he doesn't but that is often how it feels).

They really did do well :o
