Have you thought about the PSU? I had a look at tigerdirect, this would be a solid choice on all aspects, it's only 10 bucks more than the one you linked in first post.spittis

Ahhh, thank you. I was actually going to buy the Corsair Enthusiast 650W, but this one is quite a bit cheaper. About 20 bucks to be more precise. It's got better ratings too.

Just another question, I'm planning on installing Windows XP Pro 32 bit for the OS. Would XP hurt the performance in any way?

Should I get Windows 7 instead? If so, which version should I get? I never really knew the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit Operating Systems.

[QUOTE="InchunKim"][QUOTE="ionusX"] fx-4100 has betetr clocks but in fluids by and large the 1035 is better. can you supply game benches to back this up? i really want to know :|

Ah, so I'll just stick with the 1035t then. By game benches, do you mean the games I'm thinking of playing on it? If so, Battlefield 3, StarCraft 2, Test Drive Unlimited 1+2 and Counter Strike. That's really about it.

well no i was asking if you have actually googled the two and compared them. i cant get anything but fluids. where marginally the 4100 looses

I have no clue what you're talking about, but I have searched around Google. Now I don't know what any of this means, but the 1035T scored higher than FX-4100. I got the number from Benchmarkcpu. AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core : 4,036 AMD Phenom II X6 1035T : 4,876 Also, there seemed to be more people recommending the 1035T since the 6 cores helps a lot in multitasking.

The fx-4100 seems to be better, but is it compatible with the MSI 970A-G45?

I don't have BF3 yet, thinking of picking it up after I build the computer. I might pick up Modern Warfare 3 as well, I hear the campaign is really good.

I kind of figured 1TB harddrive was a bit too much. I found a WD500AAKX for $85. I'm gonna get the SC card since that one is cheaper.

I'm thinking of ordering everthing from Tiger Direct all at once. If I were to choose the "Next Day" shipping, would everything come at the same time? Or would they end up coming separately?

Also, from your experience with Tiger Direct (if you have any), have you ever had a bad product arrive and had to send it back for a replacement?

I would switch out the cpu with a Phenom 2 X4 960T, then switch out that GTX 550ti with a GTX 460 or 6850 (their much faster and nearly cost the same) . Then drop the 460w and get a good quality 500w psu dont skimp out on psu's.04dcarraher

Took your advice and looked around for the GTX 460. I found 2 different 1GB 460's. They're both the same, except one is an FPB card and the other is a SC card. Now, I have no idea what those mean. So which one is better to get, and why?

Also, how reliable is Tiger Direct? (shipping and handling, DOA, etc.)

So I tried out the Radeon HD 6670. It did boost my computer quite a bit. But as expected, the CPU seems to be holding it back by a lot. So I decided to return it, and build my own PC.

Thanks everyone, for the feedback. I feel kind of knowlegeable now. lol

So I searched around Google for a good list of hardware to buy, and found a very nice website that gave a list of hardware to buy, all totaling under $700 USD.

From the website:

Budget Gaming PC Build
Motherboard:
MSI 970A-G45 AMD 9 Series ($95)
CPU:
AMD Phenom II X6 1035T ($100)
RAM:
Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 ($25)
Video Card:
EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (1GB) ($120)
Hard Drive:
Seagate Barracuda 1TB ($115)
Optical Drive:
Sony Optiarc 24x DVDRW Drive ($18)
Case:
Cooler Master RC-430-KWN1 Elite 430 ($40)
Power Supply:
Cooler Master Elite Series 460 Watts ($40)

Total Cost: $553 (USD)

- The pricing was a bit off, the total came up to around $650. I'm guessing the prices were cheaper around the time the list was written.

Is this a good build? I know it's not as fabulous as those gaming PCs ranging around $2000, but something tells me that I can build an even better one for the same amount of money. I just have no idea what those might be (I'm not very tech savvy). Any suggestions that can make this build better, or should I just stick to it?

Get an HD 6670 for about 60 bucks. ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20600083901%20600144219&IsNodeId=1&name=Radeon%20HD%206670 ) You get a free Sonic game, too. The 7750 is overkill for what you want, and it's over budget, too.Blistrax

Would I have to replace my power supply for that? And anything else that I should know about?

[QUOTE="InchunKim"]
To the guy that said my 6600 was AGP, I'm not really sure what you mean by that. As I stated above, my CPU has PCI-E slots, with the 6600 being a PCI-E. So I don't see why 6670 would not work, unless I'm missing something else here, like the power supply.

GTR12

No succh thing as a CPU having a PCIe slot, the CPU is just a chip, its the mobo which has the slot.

Lol, I always thought the motherboard and CPU were the same thing.

My motherboard (I'm not sure if the other info is important, but I'll post it anyway)
Manufacturer: Micro-Star International CO., LTD
Model: MS-7125.
Chipset: NVIDIA / nForce4 / Rev. A3
Southbridge: NVIDIA / nForce4 MCP / Rev. A3
LPCIO: Winbound / W83627THF

BIOS
Brand: Phoenix Technologies, LTD
Version: 6.00 PG
