IrithAyllistira Blog

Untitled Blog Entry (because it's hard to be creative naming blogs)

Reading: The Magician by Raymond E. Feist (why can't I finish this book, for God's sake?)
Last movie watched: Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl
Playing: Metal Gear Solid 4; Starcraft II Wings of Liberty
Listening to: Bruce Springsteen
Mood: Neutral

After finishing for once and for all Little Big Planet (w00t), I borrowed Metal Gear Solid 4 and Starcraft II from my brother (cheers for his generosity). Well, Metal Gear Solid 4 is... well, it's Metal Gear Solid 4. Shooting people, camouflaging, playing dead and after hours of frustrating game overs, watch wonderful cutscenes.

Starcraft II is pure joy. I've always been a great fan of strategy games (You should have meet me at five years old, playing Age of Empires as if there was no tomorrow). Since this genre has "retired" from the gaming world since a few years ago, I had high expectations for this game. I am very pleased. I have so much fun playing Starcraft.I build dozens of bunkers and fill them with my little soldiers and no zerg can step into my territory!

Oh well... :P

Knowing that I have to return the games to my brother, I am going to order another five games. Since I am beginning school next week, I know these five games will last until the end of the year (at least I hope so). So, they are:

- Valkyria Chronicles;

- Devil May Cry 4 (I don't even know why I didn't play this game yet);

- Resonance of Fate;

- Uncharted 2;

- Darksiders;

Are you all fine? I hope so. :)

Hugs,

~Irith

Coloured Life

Reading: The Magician by Raymond E. Feist
Last movie watched: Into the Wild
Playing: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Listening to: Born Anew (Final Fantasy XIII Soundtrack)
Mood: Neutral

"10% of life is colored white and 10% is colored black. You decide which colour you want to paint the other 80%"

I found this quote somewhere and I just love it! It's so wise and shows the power that people have to decide their own happiness. Actually, I have been thinking about the "meaning of happiness" since I watched "Into the Wild". If you love movies that leave you thinking, "Into the Wild" is perfect for you. It talks about the power of our materialistic society and the fact that we, humans, don't need money our other belongings to find true happiness.

Now enough with the philosophy! :P

I have been tagged by some random person that I don't even have in my friends list :| They ask you 12 questions about yourself which you have to answer (5 questions about that should describe you physically and 7 questions that should describe your personality) ...Well, some of them are a little embarrassing but I have nothing to hide, do I? :P

1 - Height and Weight?

A: 5'4 and 116 pounds.

2 - Age?

A: I never answer this one. Consider it somewhere between 14 and 20 :P

3 - Hair Color and Length?

A: I am a proud brunette. And my hair goes to my middle back.

4 - Eye color?

A: I have dark eyes that they seem to be black sometimes.

5 - Skin color?

A: I have very pale skin in the winter and in the summer I tan very, very slowly (unfortunately).

6- What do you dress like?

A: That's a pretty random question :P I don't know... I love dresses but I mostly wear jeans, a nice white blouse or light-colored clothes. Sometimes I wear bright colors but I never wear black. I try to recreate the 18th century colors and romantic$tyle in modern clothing 8)

7- Do you see the cup half full or half empty?

A: It depends. But mostly I see the cup completely full. There's always something to learn from the bad experiences. Even the worst things can make you tougher, letting you grow up.

8 -What do you most like to do in life?

A: My passion is writing. I also love to draw, photography, playing the piano and reading. And of course, videogaming 8)

9 -What's your best friend like? Do you consider you have many friends?

A: My best friend is a guy that I have known since we were both five years old. We support each other with everything in life. Some of my other friends say they would like to see us together but I guess it would be stupid to ruin such a great friendship. I have a couple of close friends and then, of course, the typical occasional friends. I am a very communicative person.

10 - Love life? ( Curse this question! )

A: I have none right now. I guess we girls are all waiting for the knight in shining armor 8) (Actually that's so corny that I don't considerthat a knight in shiny armor isa dream guy anymore :P).

11 - What's your family like?

A: Me and my family are very close. I live with my parents. I have just one brother that is actually 11 years older than I.He is the one that introduced me to the gaming world many years ago.

12 - Do you consider yourself to be intelligent?

A: That's a bit random -I am unable to say if I am intelligent or not, smart or not. I only know that my head is there, above my shoulders.

That's it. Well it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be:P I won't tag anyone but if some of you want to be tagged to answer these questions... well, then I tag you! :P

Another thing... What are your thoughts on "All Time Greatest Game Villain" round 1? I was upset seeing Sephiroth losing to the RAAM guy.

Anyway... I hope everything's great with all of you :)

Cheers,

For Pride's Sake

Reading: The Magician by Raymond E. Feist
Last movie watched: Letters to Juliet

snow and serah

Yes. I finished Final Fantasy XIII, for pride's sake! I haven't played the game for three months and yesterday I grabbed my PS3 and finished the 11th, 12th and 13th chapters! Since I played Final Fantasy VII that I have been considering myself as a FF fan and I was so mad at not having finishing the 13th chapter... So I finished it  In the last battle with ****SPOILER****Orphan****END OF SPOILER**** I had 5 stars so I unlocked Lightning's theme :D I never thought I would get that trophy, I won in in my first try :|

Well, I was relatively happy with the end of the game...Oh, why am I lying to myself? Even if in my opinion this was the weakest title in the series, I loved the story. I had "butterflies in my stomach" when the game ended and I felt nostalgic for the rest of the day. This one was a cute game and it was pretty entertaining, even if it wasn't the greatest of the series:D

I finished the game with Sazh's, Lightning's, Vanille's and Hope's themes :) I was hoping to get Snow's theme but it was so hard to obtain that trophy that I gave up! :P

So, are you all fine?

Let me hear from you :)

Cheers,

~Irith

Ask me Anything Blog

Yup. That's it. Just ask me anything :D

Oh, by the way. I won't say what age I am.... Probably some of you already figured it out by some comments I make to your blogs, but I would rather not answer it directly. I am sorry, but please respect. I prefer to mantain my age in private in the best way I can 8)

Book List

Reading: The Magician by Raymond E. Feist
Last movie watched: Fame
Playing: Final Fantasy 8
Listening to: Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack
Mood: Happy

So I decided to make a list of Books I read this summer, along with a couple of recommendations and commentaries for you guys, who like books :D

heart's blood

"Heart's Blood" by Juliet Marillier - I am a huge Juliet Marillier fan, I love her books and and her awesome love stories which are, for me, way better than Twilight. She mixes both History and Fantasy in a celtic scenery. Recommended!

walk to remember

"A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks- I read this one in two hours... Cute story but not breathtaking.I can barely remember it! Well, Nicholas Sparks is just not my favorite.

twilight

"Twilight", "New Moon", "Eclipse", "Breaking Dawn"by Stephanie Meyer- I had to read since I never sympathised with the series. My opinion hasn't changed, though :P It may be a cute book, yes, for teenager girls, yes. A comfy read, maybe. Worth all that fame? Not.

left hand of god

"The Left Hand of God" by Paul Hoffman - I didn't like this one. I reached the end of the book without knowing if it happened in our world or an imaginary place. And then I think itcontained all the bad plot mistakes that can happen in a fantasy book: bitter boy with awful past becomes a very important person in his country, happens to bed the most beautiful girl in the world and is strangely sharp, smart and strong. And he just "knows things".

pride and prejudice

"Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen - I loved this book. Jane Austen wrote beautifully, fluidly and I was completely engrossed in Lizzie and Mr. Darcy's love story. Probably the most well written book I have ever read. Recommended!

hamlet

"Hamlet" by William Shakespeare - What can I say about this one? It's a cla$$sic! Recommended!

midsummer

"Midsummer Night Dream" by William Shakespeare - Another cla$$ic. Also recommended.

magician

"The Magician" by Raymond E. Feist - I am loving this book. Even if I'm on the first chapters, it's clear that the author dominates words. Highly recommended for fantasy fans!

elephant vanishes

"The Elephant Vanishes" by Haruki Murakami - Haruki Murakami is that kind of author that leaves EVERYONE intrigued. His writing $tyle is very exquisite and exotic, it's simply unnatural and very human at the same time. This book is composed by 17 short stories and even if you struggle to find a conclusion to an enigma or even the conclusion of a personal story, you will NEVER find it. Exasperating but recommended!

howl

"Howl's Moving Castle" by Diana Wynne Jones - A very simple, short and funny book. It combines the elements of traditional magic world, joins very skittish characters and a lot of bizarre happenings. Recommended for a short and fun reading.

astle in the air

"Castle in the Air" by Diana Wynne Jones- Another short and funny book, where some of the characters of "Howl's Moving Castle"'s characters appear.

house of many ways

"House of Many Ways" by Diana Wynne Jones - yet another book of the series, where some characters like Howl, Sophie and Calcifer appear.

I hope all of you are great! :D I got tired of blogging for a while because of all the tagging thing :P

A little note on Phantom of the Opera: If you are a fan of the movie, or the musical or even the soundtrack, I recommend the "Phantom of the Opera Theme" by Nightwish. I think they captured the perfect mood for the song. Marco's voice (which is the Phantom's in this version), is purely dark and somber and absolutely perfect!

Cheers to all of you!

~Irith

Nostalgic + Question of the Day

Reading: House of Many Ways by Diana Wynne Jones
Last movie watched: The Phantom of the Opera
Playing: Final Fantasy 8
Listening to: Requiem for a Dream
Mood: Happy

So the other day me and my mom went to a museum on my brother's old car. Well, my brother is that kind of person that leaves everything everywhere so it wasn't surprising to find a broken phone, some Bryan Adams cd's, the Braveheart score, his supposedly lost mp3 player etc. And for my surprise, I found his old Final Fantasy 8 game for ps1! When I was looking at the box I felt very nostalgic about the game. I played it three years ago on the computer and now that I had the playstation version in my hands I was prepared to relive that story all over again.

final fantasy 8

I can't tell you how much I love that game. I am always unable to pick between my favorite Final Fantasy, because FF7 and FF8 are in the same level in my point of view.I feelreally nostalgic butI think it's understandable to miss characters that we follow for 50 entire hours of gaming.

So, with Final Fantasy 8 in mind, I have decided to make 2 questions this time in my "Question of the Day".

QUESTION OF THE DAY (for people who have played FF8 ) :

What would you prefer: to hear the words "I love you" from Squall or Rinoa at least once in the game or do you prefer the "silent feelings" thing that's going on between them?

QUESTION OF THE DAY (for people who haven't played FF8 ) :

What's you favorite game character of all time?

I hope everything's great with all of you!

Cheers!
