[QUOTE="Iyethar"]Japan belongs to Nintendo. Didn't you get the memo?palaric8sony is doing Ok in japan, the problem is 360 sales in japan are extint
Sony is not doing "okay" in Japan. Nintendo is owning everything over there. 45 of the top 50 selling software titles are on Nintendo platforms, and Nintendo has an approximately 85% current market share.
It would not be too inaccurate to say that Nintendo has taken a monopoly position in the Japanese gaming market.
[QUOTE="Iyethar"][QUOTE="joeamis"][QUOTE="Iyethar"][QUOTE="joeamis"]Content? The Wii is lacking in quality games more than even the PS3. Another Nintendo drought just like on N64 and GC, but its okay right because half baked ports of old games on VC more than makes up for it lol. I got GeoW and it was okay, not my cup of tea, but I have countless 360 games other than it that are great. GeoW is not an instant turn off, when its well on its way to selling 5+ million copies in its lifetime.joeamis
That is pretty much not competing with something like Wii Sports then. Content is King, and Nintendo has been crowned.
That made no sense. And how is Nintendo king of content when it has the least amount of good games of any system, even portables?Hello? Does the phrase "#1 selling games software publisher in the world" mean anything to you? Nintendo took the title back from EA in 2006, you know.
Your personal opinion is not relevant to this discussion. It can be quickly countered by stating that there exist other people who are of the opinion that Nintendo has the most good games on their current systems.
The sales are how we can tell which opinion is in the majority. So far things look very bad for your point of view.
You quote me and all you type is that GeoW is not competing with Wii sports THEN. Which is true, but the "then" in your sentence makes no sense. Then you type "content is key and Nintendo has been crowned" with nothing else. And now you're trying to say that because Nintendo is the #1 selling games software publisher in the world, the Wii does not have a lack of good games. But you fail to realize that we're talking about the Wii, not Nintendo's total software sales (which would include GBA & DS). It doesn't matter if there are a portion of people who think Nintendo "has the most good games on their current systems". By your logic because Nintendo has the most total software sales by combining all their software sales on Wii, DS, & GBA that somehow means there is not a drought of quality Wii games. Ya, that makes a lot of sense... Let's compare software sales for Wii to other systems...Software Totals: Console--- Month------ Total: FEBRUARY 2007
PS2---------------------------2,372,750---- 424,561,500
360---------------------------2,080,750---- 30,652,750
DS----------------------------1,974,250---- 42,076,000
Wii----------------------------1,590,250---- 7,866,250
PSP---------------------------1,023,000---- 29,861,000
GC----------------------------523,000------116,437,500
XB----------------------------516,000----- 166,826,250
PS3---------------------------438,000----- 2,684,750
Well not king in content, Wii doesn't have as many games, hasn't sold as much software. XB360 games cost more & sell more than the Wii. Take away the Wii Sports tech demo and software sold on Wii drops by a lot. In DEC 06 Wii only beat PS3 out of every single system/portable for amount of software sold and PS3 had less than half as many consoles available. Also compare XB360's tie ratio to Wii's now or at same points in their life cycle and 360 has a much better tie ratio... Wii looks to be continuing Nintendo's trend of having a slow release of good 1st party games, with lack of good 3rd party games, receiving ports from other systems. I guess you can look forward to ports of PSP & PS2 games on the Wii... http://www.vgcharts.org/amonthly.php?date=39114

Xbox 360 has a one year head start in North America, and a multi-million unit lead at this time. I wouldn't expect the Wii to sell more software units this February. Next February I do expect it to sell more software units.
The good third party games will come later this year, and they will never stop. Nasty PSP and PS2 ports are just to mark time while the third parties get their asses in gear.
You don't like the Wii's library. That's an opinion. I have to say that I've been unimpressed by the third party efforts that have showed up so far. But in my opinion, Wii Sports alone makes the Wii's software library much better than the PS3's.
I think that you'll find out presently that there are people in the world who hold the opinion that only a console with a software library that includes Wii Sports is worth their time. I think you'll find that there are enough of them to send Wii straight to the top.
I just want some hardcore games - non of this party game crap.baddog121390You'll get them. It's just going to take until the end of the year because publishers backed the wrong horse with their pre-launch development efforts.
[QUOTE="Iyethar"][QUOTE="bustos86"][QUOTE="Iyethar"][QUOTE="bustos86"][QUOTE="Iyethar"]That is correct!
Also, these initial sales are the most important. The Wii's strong sales now are a good indicator that it will gain momentum. Good initial sales usually lead to even better sales over the long term.
And that's why Nintendo's strategy is better than Sony's.

Yeah, whatever. I can't discuss this topic with you, your'e to stupid.:|
No, you can't discuss this topic with me because you don't have an argument. That's why you called me stupid.
well than what is the point of your argument? Is the WII selling because it is a better console than the PS3 and Xbox 360? or is it selling better because it is only $250?
The point is that being $250 is part of what makes it a better console than the PS3 and Xbox 360 in the eyes of the millions who are buying them as fast as Nintendo is shipping them in every major sales region. So is the motion control. So are a few other things.
People who are predicting Wii performance using GameCube as a model need to seriously re-examine the situation. Go look at sales histories and see if you can't find a model that fits Wii's performance a whole lot better. There isn't going to be a wave of third party abandonment three years in, because it's not going to have a small userbase like GameCube did!
For crying out loud, it could seriously pass lifetime GCN sales in Japan this year. If it doesn't it'll be damn close. Doesn't that tell you something?
so I can go buy Trojan condoms for 5 bucks a pack, or some cheap condoms from the restroom dispenser for 25 cents. Which one is better? Just because it is cheaper doesn't make it better. Motion control has't been proven yet to be truly great yet, and what does the Wii do better than the PS3 or Xbox 360?
That is not the topic under discussion. What the Wii will do better than PS3 and Xbox 360 is sell. And by the end of the generation, it will be unthinkable not to own one because of the software support that associates with that success.
Your condom analogy is *ahem* broken. You don't cheap out on buying condoms because you don't want any chance that the product will fail. It's not as if you can condom-warranty a pregnancy. The Wii will unquestionably play all Wii games, all GameCube games, and all VCS titles. If it doesn't, you can get it replaced with one that does.

[QUOTE="Iyethar"][QUOTE="Gamer46"][QUOTE="Iyethar"]wii sports is not that great of a reason[QUOTE="kingyoto"][QUOTE="hyruledweller"]Indeed, it sells so well because: Price Wii Sports Wiimote Appeals to everyone Strong brand backing itGamer46
Your opinion about how much you enjoy Wii Sports is not relevant to this discussion. Wii Sports is the system seller.
What's been on Prime-time TV more often lately? Twilight Princess or Wii Sports? Any game or Wii Sports?
The mass market consumer has shown a willingness to spend $250 for Wii Sports and a Wii. That is why you have to hunt for it or pay a premium in North America.
The game is unbundled in Japan and has already sold over a million copies, which is more than 1:2 with the Wii!!
A million copies in 15 weeks! In one region.
EDIT: For reference, in Japan Wii Sports is priced equally to games that typically carry a $40 price tag in NA.
You're right, and it's a reason why the Wii will never be good for anything but parties because it will have zero real deep games. Enjoy your cooking and animal raising sims. People who want a real gaming experience will be playing Mass Effect on 360, or Heavenly Sword on PS3.
Okay, Mr. Person who wants a "real" gaming experience. I'll take the massive future third party support that the Wii's "casual" market domination will bring, and you can have the two listed titles as well as your sour grapes.
The massive third party support is just going to bring more mini-game compilations, and trash like that. Those types of games suck, period.
Keep telling yourself that.
