That's post #666 in this thread - The Post of the Beast.
Let's let this unholy thread die now.
[QUOTE="mark4091"][QUOTE="agentfred"][QUOTE="Agriath"]the hd-dvd is optional...stop using it to justify the 600$ you shelled out for the PS3.agentfred
But it must be included to make a fair comparison to the ps3.
no it doesint, sony does not even give you an option. this whole thread shoots itself in the foot, its saying sony I'm glad you did not give me a choice on high def movies and charged me 600+ dollars
Whether or not it's optional is irrelevant, were debating the pricing of the two. you have to include the hddvd add on in order to gave a reasonable comparison.
That's a matter of opinion, and relative to the needs of the person making the purchase decision. The majority of people purchasing game consoles are not interested in viewing HD movies on disc, so most people have to exclude the HD-DVD add-on in order to make a reasonable comparison.
Your preferences might dictate that the HD-DVD add-on should be included in your own personal purchase decision, but as I said, you're in a minority in that regard. You shouldn't assume that the factors relevant to your purchase decision will help other people make theirs appropriately.
The primary purpose of these machines is playing games on TV. That's why people buy them, and that feature does not require a disc drive for Hi-Def movies.
And for the $299 360, you would also need at least a memory card to save your progress. Might as well add that.
he said thats all you need to PLAY. and memory cards aren't $300.
No, they're $30-40. But you do need one, modern console games are all designed with the assumption that the user will save his progress.
I went into EB today to pick up Madden 07 on PSP, and I saw a load of boxes of Wiis on the shelves. I asked the store clerk about them and he said "The chistmas buzz for Wiis has really gone down, its getting hard to sell them. Of course, there is always the sheep that buy a few, but the general public appears to not care"
Also, apparently the best selling game at my local EB was Resistance FOM, and they are starting to do preorders for MGS4 ("Best to be prepared for the massive buzz for this game" he said), and they have 3 pages of preorders already. Also, Wii's new AAA 'game' has not been selling well. "I guess people want propper games, I hope not all Wii games are minigames fit for partys" was what the store clerk told me.
So all this you hear from sheep about how PS3 is not selling and Wario being amazing, dont believe it, trust me, the general public decide what happens in the gaming world, and they are making the right choice - go with quality games, ditch kiddy Wii-Wii-Wario. I know about this stuff, my dad works where they make Playstaion games, and he says that casual gamers are loving Resistance. I dont blame them, its an awesome game.

Nice try, Pinocchio.
the only extra use ive gotten out of the spinner was this one place where you use it to get to a piece of heart. thats all.
yeah the slingshot is worthless.
i heard late in the game you get a double clawshot....WTF!?!?! thats a horrible idea.

IMO it's the best tool in a 3D Zelda yet.
What's most worrying for the PSP is how its sales are flattening out. In its strongest territory in terms of existing userbase, North America, it has been outsold for the last four months running by GameBoy Advance. This wasn't always the case. There was more excitement over the PSP previously, it was the top selling handheld in the last half of 2005 and the first half of 2006. If PSP doesn't do really well this holiday shopping season, it's in trouble.
Sony really needs to do something significant to create excitement over the system and get it back in the spotlight. However, I don't know if they can do realistically do this while their attentions are focused on PS3.
[QUOTE="Israfel856"][QUOTE="Spelunker"]Has anyone come across a way to turn down/off the wiimote sounds? I really can't stand them.SpelunkerYou can turn them down, but you can't have it come out of the TV, which really sucks. You can? How? I'm not seeing the option anywhere.
Hit the home button on the remote, then click on controller settings for the remote you want to adjust.
why did gear get an 9.5 from jeff. because of a throw away story, basic shooter, good graphics, and a stupid chain saw. Jeff's gear review only talked about sound, graphics, and a stupid chainsaw. how can that game get such a high score and zelda an 8.8edwin33186
Gamespot's review policy allows the reviewer more editorial freedom to ignore presentational flaws in aspects such as story and dialogue than in the aspects of graphics and sound.
[QUOTE="cakeorrdeath"][QUOTE="RahXephon101"][QUOTE="Flugigo"][QUOTE="RahXephon101"]Yeah, it kinda does, actually.Seriously, i mean jsut cuz its zelda, imo, doesn't make it an instant goty.
DA_B0MB
Could you explain your logic. I mean I like the Zelda games, but how can people say "oh its zelda, goty."
Its History of success almost garuntees it will be an excellent game. Zelda's typically do win GOTY.
O RLY? please list all the GOTY zeldas...i dont remmeber GOTYs too well :P
OoT is the most critically acclaimed game of all time.
[QUOTE="PhxRen"]what happens if it ties?DA_B0MBLOL that is a great Q. id say no one is forced to leave.
By the language that the bet was expressed in (If Geow scores higher than Zelda / If Zelda scores higher than Geow) I'd say you're correct. Good thing that you didn't phrase the bet differently - if you had the event of a tie might have forced you both to leave. :D
