Yeah it's way too hectic for BF, it's far more suited to COD. Often in COD you will see there are heaps of players at the top with similar K/D's and scores because it's so hectic it's hard to stand out really. In CQ it's pretty much the same. In other BF maps I gravitated to the top of game scoreboards but in CQ I will be MVP one game and loitering at the bottom with a negative K/D the next, it's too random like COD and the good players do not stand out because of it. You're right in saying random spawn has a lot to do with it, often you get killed from behind which hardly ever happens in BF when you're playing team games, and yes there are basically no tactics involved, it's just kill kill kill. Also, rush is my favorite game type and you can't even play it on CQ which annoys me, I thought they might at least have a couple of maps like metro that are CQ but allow for you to play rush. Servers with 32 players are hectic as but some servers have up to 64 which is just retarded. And yeah a lot of guns are useless. Shotguns are super common as you'd expect, but at least they nerfed the USAS a while age because it would be the only weapon people used if they didn't. I tried to stick away from shotguns but now I'm using the SPAS simply because it's so much better on the small maps. The Engineer class is obviously useless because there are no vehicle, but I will commend DICE that at least they have made explosives pretty much useless too, Metro is a clusterfvck of explosives which really pissed me off. Overall I think they're okay maps but could have been much better, I'm really annoyed they got rid of rush.So you're going to not get the armored kill pack, which we've seen a bit of and already they are the largest maps in BF3, just becuase you don't like CQB, which was built just for the metro fans.
I actually enjoy the CQB. I think the infantry combat in BF3 works perfect in close quarters. If you're playing with 24 players it's a blast, 16 is actually perfect. The maps are extremely well laid out and they changed the game modes up to make the best use out of the smaller maps structure.
One thing the CQB maps have that CoD maps don't is verticallity. They aren't just a single level with a bunch of chokepoints. They are really diverse and have a lot of levels to them. I think they are insanely well made, great for what the whole pack is.
Anyways, if you're not getting Armored Kill just because you don't like the CQB maps, then you're just being stupid. The one map they showed off of Armored Kill already is the largest map in BF3. Two of the objectives are like 2 kms away from each other. The distances are massive compared to even the B2K maps. I wouldn't just write it off.
They are also making a tank-focused game mode where vehicles are the primary weapons in the game, not infantry.
Well I only really play BF3 anymore when my friends want to, and while I did get them to play some of the mid sized maps, they hate the huge ones. They love CQ because they like COD (or used to) so I play it with them. Also, like I said rush is my favorite game type and the size of the maps isn't really a factor in rush so much as in conquest. I do like the idea of vehicle based combat though so long as the air and land balance is good, however often you will get people who are just crazy good in helicopters and dominate the field.
