Since we don't see lightsabers actually cutting through things, the effect is kind of wasted.

@Hoski0999: I sympathize, but you really should have known that staying away from spoilers after the film's release is all but impossible in this day and age. You should have made plans months in advance to see the film on opening day. I bought my tickets in October precisely to avoid something like this happening.

I have to imagine that Mark Hamill's salary includes whatever work he is doing on the future films in the franchise. The seven figure paycheck from Force Awakens was essentially a down payment for his involvement in episodes VIII and IX.

@Sushiglutton: It's hard to be too critical of Carrie Fisher because she has been out of the acting game for some time, and she clearly hasn't aged as gracefully as Harrison Ford or Mark Hammil. Her voice has changed considerably since Return of the Jedi, so it is hard to make herself sound like Leia again, even an older version of Leia.

@Jdzspace: You're reading too much into this, I think. Harrison Ford is an actor, and one thing that most actors have in common is that they don't want to become trapped in a particular role. This is understandable. Stagnation isn't good for an acting career. Fast-forwarding to the present, I think Harrison Ford cared enough about the role of Han Solo that he wanted the character to go out in a way that did the character justice while he still had control of his life and career. Remember that Harrison Ford is in his 70's, and with presumably 3 years between Episodes 7, 8, and 9, a multi-film deal would put him in his 80's if he did all three. Not everyone can be as long-lived as Christopher Lee.

@kellian1: I believe it was stated in the film that Kylo Ren's training wasn't complete, and that is clear to see throughout the movie. Kylo Ren is raw untamed energy. He can do things with the Force we have never seen in canon (like freeze blaster bolts in mid flight). But he also has obvious limitations. He lacks self-control. His lightsaber is imperfectly constructed. He gets shot by Chewbacca. He gets wounded by a non-Force sensitive (Finn) in a lightsaber duel, and is then defeated in a follow-up duel with a fledgling Force-sensitive (Rey). His lightsaber technique is raw and unrefined, able to deflect blaster bolts but he doesn't really know how to fight a lightsaber-wielding opponent. Any fully trained Jedi or Sith would completely own Kylo Ren. And that is as it should be. This is an era where there are hardly any Jedi or Sith left to train people in the use of the Force. As for Rey, she had an advantage in that Kylo Ren had already been wounded and she was letting the Force flow through her instead of trying to control it like a darksider.

How can a start-up company possibly afford the legal fees associated with so many lawsuits all at once? This makes no sense to me.

@thespicychiken: And it's hard to push into new areas when you blow up the Enterprise. And from the trailer, it appears that Earth get's attacked AGAIN. That's not exactly a new area to explore.

The one bright spot in this article is that the film might explore character relationships more, but I have a hard time taking that at face value. There isn't much room in an action film to insert things of that nature. If you want character relationships, you need to see this cast interact in an actual series, but the chances of Chris Pine and company agreeing to that are just about zero.

I'm not one to judge a book by its cover, but I have grave reservations about this film already, and that's coming from someone who didn't think the last two films were that bad.

A trailer's purpose is to attract people to your movie. This trailer had the opposite effect on me. I'm disgusted.

45 GB? Ouch! I can't think of any other game on this rig that takes up so much space. I'll have to uninstall several things to make it run. Decisions, decisions...
