From what I've seen, most gamers tend to go with first impressions, picking the 'cooler'-looking game over one that looks 'arty'. And even more probably don't read magazine/online reviews.
I would've thought the IGN 'Game of the Year' sticker would've helped, though. At least I've very small done my part by recommending it religiously to everyone I know with a PS2 :P
If you're into anime and good gameplay, Okami is great!mrvic87
Much though I agree about Okami being a truly awesome game, having it being called anime makes me cringe a bit. Anime is a modern form of drawing used mainly for making commercial cartoons, whereas Okami's design replicates the look and feel of traditional Japanese watercolour artwork that dates back several hundred years (don't quote me on this, I'm no history buff), except animated. Both are very different thematically.
My nitpicking aside, I'd recommend the game very highly to anyone who enjoys Action/Adventure games. Some would disagree with me on this, but I'd say it rivals the Zelda games in terms of greatness. And it certainly will take a while to do everything in it. Shame there probably won't be a sequel released for a very long time, if at all :(
I suggest you look up the story/game script to Metal Gear Solid 1 first if you haven't played that either though, otherwise you'll probably miss a lot of the little subtleties and connections in MGS2's story.
Personally, I wasn't absolutely in love with the first like pretty much every other gamer I've seen (DMC3 has always been superior in my opinion), but the second one seems like it'll be more my sort of game, what with (hopefully) some more interesting boss fights to break down the constant regular enemy slaughterfest. This one's going into the collection at some point, more than likely.
seeing that I'm 17 and i spend most of my time in your mom's bed i think its ok that im living at home. and i would much rather live in my parents house than pretend im something im not and act sensitive, so some girl ill never meet might think im in touch with my feminine side. you guys are embarassing.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Minus the 'your mum' joke, but anyways.
I'm amused how most of the people posting in this thread are falling over themselves to repeat what others have said.
Oh, and for the record, if anyone asks, I'm a 20 year old redhead with a DD chest. Yep. Truly. Internet.
Naa naaaa, na-na na-na na na na na Katamari Damacyyyyyyyyy....
Metal Gear Solid 3, Devil May Cry 3 or Okami. Pick one, it's too hard for me to choose :?
As for the worst? Probably one of the Simple 2000 titles (games made for 2000 yen). I'd say Yakuza Fury is the worst one I've played of that lot. I've played NES brawlers better than that s**t.
I haven't played the game personally, but after playing most of the older ones and hearing some people talk about this one, I think it's fair to say that the Dragon Quest series as a whole isn't really big on story. It's pretty much 'old-school' role-playing gaming personified. Which is cool if you're into that sort of thing, but if you want an epic and memorable story, I'd recommend a Final Fantasy or Shin Megami Tensei (particularly Digital Devil Saga) game instead.
Don't take my word for it, though, feel free to make your own choices.
Depends what sort of genre you're looking at.
For old-school side-scrolling action, I recommend Alien Homind.
As far as FPS's go, get Timesplitters 2 or 3 (Future Perfect)
Unfortunately I haven't played too many co-op PS2 games, so that's about all I can suggest, sorry.
