Still no comment on my post.

Not a very good source TBH. If you can provide a better source we can talk. But that source seems to take little things and spin them to an overall opinion of the author. That's generally not what one considers facts.

But all the source is essentially doing is quoting the former head of the American visa bureau, Michael Springman.  I don't see how it's spinning anything.

Seems like you would rather just try and find any fault with the source rather than just read what it's presenting.

Why do people have this stupid impression that sampling is easy?

Saturos3091

Sampling IS easy. It's why you see every kid with their pirated copy of Fruity Loops making unlistenable beats and tenth-rate dubstep.

Not saying samples can't be used to create good music because that's simply not true, but a lot of the quality comes down to the sample itself. How it's used is important too, but if the sample is bad then all of the synthetic editing in the world can't make it sound better regardless of what brand new VST you happen to have.

When it comes to hip-hop the talent for me comes from the vocalwork (flow, technique) and the lyrics. I definitely prefer organic beats though. I'm okay with that even if I have to put up with them being sampled as long as they're sampled well.

Sorry, but I clearly meant the act of sampling and making a good song out of it, not just the act itself.  I know it isn't that difficult to chop a part of a song.

What you actually have a lot nowadays is producers actually chopping things from multiple songs and placing them altogether to make a hit.  Which you can't tell me is easy.  One of the reasons I respect Kanye is cause he does that (or at least used to) when he produces.

The rest of the stuff you mentioned is pretty self-explanatory.  Of course the sample can't just be anything.  But that's exactly what makes quality sampling a true skill.  Easy to do, but hard to master.

Looks great, but 30 is my max price point for this game. Hopefully the price will lower by Black Friday as the game really intrigues me.

yokofox33

Yeah that's how much I paid for Origins, I think it was on sale for black friday.  I plan to do the same thing with this game, but I definitely loved Rayman Origins. The level designs, the soundtrack, it was all perfect imo.  Can't wait to play this one.

I didn't play a second of it outside of co-op though, not sure I could anymore with 2D platformers.

Both launch lineups look underwhelming.

How much do shoes add? Anything significant? JML897

I'm sure shoes add an inch or two tops, but that's irrelevant.

"Others believed that barefoot height does not matter because in shoes is the favored metric. Ive heard it before, the argument goes: They play in shoes. I can be sympathetic to this logic line--for a second."

"In-game Dwight Howard may well tower to 6-11. But, do we record NFL player height in helmet? Do we weigh boxers in gloves? Do we act like jockeys are centaurs and measure them on horse? Of course not, because there is no need to tweak traditional human measurements."

That's how I see it.

The mods treat this board like its their red headed stepchild.

And 90% of users probably have no idea this section exists.

Not surprised.

With hip-hop they often sample other genre's music and they can't sing.

AdrianWerner

Why do people have this stupid impression that sampling is easy?

Since when is it easy to take something that's already been successful and rejuvenate it.

Btw, you're making it seem like most of hip hop is made off sampled records, when that's not the case at all.  I would love to see other genres take elements from each other like certain Hip Hop songs though.

that may be.

but id like my topic to not get derailed over a petty "argument"

konvikt_17

No problem.

To those that have a problem with other people's sigs, download ad-blocker.  Once you get it all it requires is a right click and hitting "block element."  And BAM, the sig is forever erased from your view.

Not to mention its just a great app to have nowadays.  Never have to watch a YouTube Ad again.
