[QUOTE="Jaihom"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] Yes...but with the tax burden of the NHS....how many people do you think can pay for private insurance as well? Only the very wealthy. Which doesn't help the general population. Which makes the system broken.

LJS9502_basic

Anything life threatening will still be covered by the NHS. Anything it won't help the general population cover is something you don't need, which is more than you can say about the US. People can and often do end up with crippling debt because of procedures necessary to save their lives.

And you can pay very little each month for toward the debt and nothing can be done about that.;)

Hip replacements and tonsilitis are not elective surgeries by the way....

Way to miss my point.

What? Of course they're going to raise it again. Raising the debt ceiling is standard operating procedure. It happens multiple times per term every presidency.

"I had to wait 30 weeks to get my free joint replacement instead of 18 weeks for my free join replacement. It doesn't cause my severe pain. Boo hoo." In the US, there are plenty of people who just have bad joints. They don't get to wait for 30 weeks, they just have a bad joint until they die, because they can't pay for it.

Well it's their government system, but they also have the option of a private insurance plan in the UK where people can pay for insurance and get care outside of the NHS. Those with money can still get the procedures and care they want.

Why is swearing or dressing crazily inherently bad? Other than your parents telling you it is for your entire life, that is.

[QUOTE="sonicare"] They had nothing on Lincoln.flazzle

Lies.. He was awful.. He had states secede from the Union before he even opened his mouth up for his first inaugral speech..

So what do you think Lincoln should have done to prevent states from seceding?

He obviously should've made not owning slaves illegal.

I thought I was hyperbolic enough to be obvious, but yes, I was joking. My point was that the people who attack Obama for not speaking perfectly without a teleprompter are idiots.

God! Look at him! When his teleprompter fails and he has to recite his speeches purely from memory, he stutters slightly and sometimes has to rephrase a sentence or back track a word! And he says uh! I mean, everyone knows every president before him just recited their speeches from memory. What an idiot, he has to rely on having the speech in front of him! Look at JFK when he speaks, and how often he looks down to remind himself that he doesn't have it written down in front of him. Obama should take notes and learn how to speak publicly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuW4oGKzVKc&feature=fvst
