"[UPDATE 2] Sources have toldPolygonthat the Xbox One will not require gamers pay an activation fee to play used games, but will mandate regular checks to verify the authenticity of games."
If there is no fee what is to stop people from freely passing around the game so everyone can own it for free? The regular checks I suppose would be the answer but what in the world would they involve? Putting the disc in couldn't be it as then what would happen if you did sell it/give it away? Or are they saying you have to hold onto the disc? Or....what? Some sort of code?
I wish they would stop pushing this Kinect thing. As it stands it's a cheap gimmick as it stands at the moment, it's going to be years and years before it (or something similar) will have any real substantial positive effect on gaming.
Because people put good money towards those games and want to be able to play them. Also this new Xbox seems to have a hundred and one extra features hardly anyone seems interested in, why couldn't they divert some of that effort into this?
Could they be anymore arrogant? I enjoy playing older generation games, playing one thorugh right now on my PC...but I guess I'm just backwards like that. =.='
