Jerell_rast Blog

Summer has started!

That's right! After a whole month filled with exams, I finally have some free time.

I'm still accepting challenges. So PM me or comment below with your FC if you're confident enough:P. Oh, and Gabu, let me know when you're back so we can battle.

And guess what? I'm the Mod of the Month of May! I have bragging rights now, lol.

Well, as you can see, I'm too lazy to write blog (i did enough wrtiting for my papers O_O ) so I'm keeping this short and sweet.

Later peeps!

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I was talking about challenges on Pkmn Diamond/Pearl. My bad :P.

Brawling / Battling

Guess it's time for a new blog huh? I've been fairly inactive with blogging due to lot's of brawling and a part-time job at an accounting office.

My friend got the game a week later after release and we've been practicing a lot at his house. This game takes some getting used to since it has slowed down a bit, but awesome nonetheless. Until now, I've mastered Ness, Zelda (not sheik) and Lucario. I'm also training with Bowser. That's right, a heavyweight:twisted:.

On the other hand, next to brawling, I also got back into pokemon . Some friends of mine started battling online on the gamefaqs' boards and I just couldn't resist. My normal team is ready to kick some serious butt so if you're confident enough to beat me, fire away. Standard rules, double battle.

One more thing. It's May and that only means one thing, exams >_>.

Later peeps!

1 year moderating and 5 things of you-know-what :D

Yup, today marks one year that I've been a mod here on gamespot. It's been really great so far and I've really enjoyed it. We've also made a new union where we usually hang out and talk about anything, so feel free to join:). Tread carefully, we have snipers on the roof:lol:.

Now, onto the 5 things you didn't know about me (got tagged by soul):

1. I have a 360 standing in my house since July last year and I haven't bought a single game for it O_O.

2.Tourists mistake me for Kanye West.

3. I've always loved playing 2D games, especially on the SNES.

4. (I might step on some people's toes) I have a thing against people who wine about leaving gamespot for whatever unnecessary reason.

5. I'm too sexy for my shirt, LOL.

Random fact: I do pay my taxes XD.

Funny brawl pics XD.

I was chatting with a friend of mine and he found these pics.

Oh, and, yes I will be owning some newbs in brawl online. I just need to buy a Wii >_>.

The N3ws blog: SSBB better than SMG? (famitsu review)

What's up everyone? Guess it's time to start the new year with one awesome news blog.

This time Famitsu reviewed one of my most anticipated games. And guess what, according to famitsu, Super smash Bros. Brawl is (listen good) PERFECT.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Soulcalibur, Vagrant Story, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Nintendogs, Final Fantasy XI, and, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Those are the only seven games to earn a perfect 40/40 score (aka: the Holy Grail of gaming accolades) from Famitsu.

Now this news will make the delay even more painful-_-.

Thanks to a tip by Arcanine88.

Source.

My best wishes..

Yup, it's that time of the year where gaming knows no limits(for me at least). Countless hours of SSBM, lan parties and torturing yourself playing MMO's. Yep that's how I spent the last week:P.

But in all seriousness, my best wishes to you and your family.

Merry Christmas:).

MapleStory

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine introduced me to this 2D side-scrolling MMO named Maplestory. My first reaction was WTF? One week later: "This game is so addicting:D"! Basically, the game is less complicated than Guildwars and WoW but awesome nonetheless (and completely free:P).

On the other hand, as a responsible student, I'm in the middle of my finals so studying is my 1st priority-_-.

But as soon as my finals are over, you'll see more of the features like the "N3ws blog" and "Games that deserve a remake/sequel".

Until then:).

Is Sony on .. .. a roll?

The Sony PS3 could be about to pull off one of the biggest turn-arounds the games market has ever seen. After a slow start, where Sony's console was hampered by its high pricing and lack of quality games, since the price drop the PlayStation 3 and one of the biggest PlayStation advertising campaigns, last week for the first time, the ps3 has managed to sell more than what used to be the big N's playground, namely Japan.

In the week ending October 29, sales rose to 75,000. Sony also said that it has sold more than 100,000 PS3(&PS2) consoles in the week ending November 11, an increase of 250 to 300per cent from the average weekly sales before the price drop.

I'm starting to think that Sony is doing all of this on purpose (Yes, I actually thought that every step they took since it's launch was plainly wrong): They knew that Microsoft had a whole year head start. They knew the different (and successful) path that Nintendo took. They knew what they would get into when they announced that $599 price tag at the E3 2006 convention. Anyone with some basic marketing experience must be familiar with price skimming.

Truth is, that consumers are waiting for quality games to get released so by the time they released some of their highest anticipated games next year (MGS 4, GT5, KZ2, Littlebigplanet, God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIII), the price would have already been reduced by enough amount that anyone who wanted to buy one, can actually afford one.

On top of that, Sony just halved the price of their development kits , promising to further reduce costs as more studios adopt the console technology and hoping that this could significantly increase the amount of developers to make more games for the machine.

In the end, I'm thinking that these dudes are preparing to put all their money on 2008. The only stumbling block for Sony now looks like being North America. The Wii and the Xbox 360 are still thumping the PS3 in the USA, and Sony is going to have to do something about it. Maybe those quality game launches are exactly what the doctor ordered?

How do you see these results? Do you think it was just an *R & C effect*? Or is Sony finally getting their act together? With a strong marketing campaign, a recent price drop on their console and their development kits, in my eyes, there's nothing that get's in their way to make at least a comeback. This will be a very interesting Christmas:).
