ok, let me give this a shot: when i saw the demo for fallout 3, it didn't capture my interest at all and looked really boring; however, when i saw the trailer for dead space, it looked really, really interesting and a lot of fun to play. and hence, imo, dead space looks a gazillion times more interesting and fun than fallout 3.

but in turn even though i hate gta... i cant say its a good game, but i know others can.. and they may actually like the game for reasons, other than the ones i posted.. im not saying they dont..

but im just saying in my opinion. which neither of yours' or mine can actually be proven (but then again what is proof, other than social authentication) this is how i see it.

but as long as we can agree on one thing... agree to disagree, and have logical standpoints on that aspect.. then all is great.

the stories for both mp 1 & 2 are really cheesy, and i think they did that semi-intentionally. i mean, a cop and an assassin fall in love?! how more cliche can you get??? and some of the lines were so good precisely because they were bad, so i can't help but agree with artur in his assessment that the mp series was meant to be a parody (of sorts). oh no! did i just agree with artur?! no!!!!!!!!!!!

true, but it doesn't get more blatantly cliche than an assassin and a cop falling in love. or a cop falling in love with a donut and doing stuff with it, but that's another subject matter.

point is, alot of sales for that game because it delt with 3 things...

1. you can bang prostitues... mainly children and teens loved that aspect... and would get in a car, go pick one up, just to show their friends that this game had it in it.

2. you could shoot cops... because people hate the police, although alot of them hate them because their friends hate them.. and find actual excuses to later..

3. because the game is gang related... thugs... everyone thinks their a gangster or thug because they listen to "rap" or have spinners on their vehicle, or because of some ethnic background... all of which doesnt show power... only image.

look at leisure suit larry...

or all these action games that invovle a main character being female... she is always pretty, and has some "particular" attire of clothing...

there IS this other crazy theory, and it suggests that gta series and leisure suit larry series consist of really good games and hence sold well. i know - crazy!
