@NTM23 It's most likely The Last of Us won't win here, here's why:
1. The last of Us is a contender for GOTY as well as GTA V for the PS3. If the Last of Us beats GTA V then it means the Last of Us should be GOTY and they're already clarifying that GTA V is GOTY for the last 2 months which is my #2.
2. They literally have been advertising GTA V via a show called GTA diaries to showcase things in GTA online.. why do they do this besides putting the time to go through various games instead of just one ? Well either 1, they think GTA V is that awesome that no other games deserves spots. or 2 they're promoting the game to what they feel is a safe pick for the over all users.
I have to ask out of curiosity. So if a gaming device is released with weak hardware in modern time, it will never get a bad merit saying it had bad graphics right? but if a gaming device is released trying to push for better hardware and software in its area it's going to be open for getting shut down for not meeting expectations ? I'm confused.. so all consoles should just do the Nintendo then? I though pushing hardware was just a plus, an icing on the cake... not a welcome wagon to take it down for trying to go that extra mile o.O
I can't completely blame people who have a poor idea about video games when our most popular video games are pretty much just a game. Like COD it's just an arcade shooter or mario is just a platformer or zelda just a fantasy story to save a princess. But games that challenge morality or induce an idea or inspire a certain discussion about our world or characteristics or choices are not really noticed by the world outside because they're severely out-shined by games like Mario and COD that will never grow into something more respectful. I mean sure, they're the embodiment of what a game is meant to be, an entertaining experience, but those games don't help or inspire other games to be made, other ideas to come to life, or a good story to be told. If they ever made a good movie about Deus Ex with a legit plot people would be like "woah" this story was good! and if you tell them it came from a video game they'll probably think it played like COD or Mario and that the story wasn't told well in the game. People that don't play games don't see them as anything more than pressing buttons, and they can't be blamed for that.
@LethalMigraine you didn't see it did you? he wasn't trying to be funny.. he was even tapping his fingers out of poor patience to not want to be there, anyone seeing the show only wanted to know information or see a sneak peak of a game they're hyped about but his expression and the way he was talking made it seem like it was worse than what it was.
