Pffft.... 8.8 is the new 9.5. A lot of games reviewers now seem to have a phobia of giving a score above 9.0 for some reason. Aside from Oblivion (which technically came out a year ago anyway), what was the most recent (new) game on any console to get above a 9.0?

Well where I work we sold all of our initial allocation on launch day, then got some transferred from another store who had extra. Since then we've sold two consoles all week. You say selling out is not important, but it is. So Sony shipped waaay more than they needed and broke sales records. Good for them. But that's not how average Joe will see it. When Joe walks into a store a few days after launch and sees PS3's in stock, he's not gonna think 'ah, good ol' sony, shipping more than enough consoles. They deserve my custom!' He's gonna think it's not selling. Does he want to buy a console which it appears no one else really wants? After all, the 360 was hard to find when that came out, that must have been really popular. Oh, and the Wii is still selling out- surely that means it's much more popular. Fact is, the casual market Sony captured with the PS2 aren't the kind to frequent websites like this, so chances are they havn't even heard this news. They will just see the Wii selling out, the console everyone apparantly wants, then the PS3, the brand new 'hot item' still sitting on shelves. Unless they go to the store with the sole intent of buying a PS3, they're unlikely to be persuaded to get one so easily.

Pfft... Mario would win cos Sonic would lock onto an enemy fifty feet behind him, then become disoriented and fall off a cliff.

But wait! I thought not having voice-overs was only for terrible last-gen games. I though games should be marked down in reviews for not having voice overs.

The way I see it, Nintendo will really mess up if they have anything less than great graphics. Think about it- they want to appeal to people who don't normally play games. These people are gonna see the PS3 and think ''wow, those graphics are amazing!!'' and then they will see the rev, and if the rev graphics are nowhere near as good they're gonna think ''huh, that looks like old technology. I don't want something that's going out of date...'' so they don't buy it.

They need something comparable to the PS3 in order to sell to the market they're aiming at.
