@Marky360: the original Fallout games were definitely more advanced. The only thing MGS and Resident Evil had over Fallout games were 3D polygonal graphics, but the Fallout games had way deeper and more complex systems than any console game out at the time.
@Marky360: Well Metal Gear actually came out in the 80s, so I'm guessing you're talking about Metal Gear Solid, which came out I'm the late 90s. Elder Scrolls came out in the early 90s, only a few years after Super Mario World. Fallout came out around the same time as MGS and Resident Evil. Even so, Fallout and Elder Scrolls are still way more advanced games.
@MalakTawus: gaming on PC is definitely costlier than gaming on consoles. That's why consoles will never go away. People don't want to drop over $1k for a gaming console for their kids.
For adults that have their own income and want the best experience possible and have access to most games possible and are in to gaming enough to be willing to spend the money, it's worth it. Especially if you have a business, because you can write off the whole thing.
If you just buy a gaming PC, that doesn't require technical knowledge. If you're building your own PC it definitely can though, especially if you're moving parts released around different times. You have to verify compatibility and may have to do other weird things, like flash new bios to your mobo.
I can definitely see why consoles are the easy choice for a lot of people. I personally enjoy playing with high resolutions and framerates and not being restricted to the relatively small amount of games that are released on consoles. Having access to mods and fan games alone is almost worth having a gaming PC if you're pretty in to playing games.
@masterfrankgrimes: you do realize that playing PC isn't more or less solitary than playing on console.
PC has online and couch co-op and you can easily plug your PC in to a TV and use wireless gamepads.
It almost sounds like you don't actually have a gaming PC and are making assumptions about the PC gaming experience.
Having a gaming PC is like having a console that can play any game and use any the of user interface device. Except even better because you can MOD your games.
@MalakTawus: Other than being cheaper and not requiring technical knowledge, there's aren't any advantages to gaming on a console. You can easily connect your PC to a TV and use a wireless gamepad with it.
The only real advantage I see to playing on console is there is a larger population of players usually.
