Unfortunately that's what happens a lot when I pay for a guy's meal: they throw a tantrum. It's embarrassing.

Yesterday I had dinner with my best friend, Devin, at this really good Italian place, and right after we finished eating he pulled out his wallet and extracted his debit card to pay for our dinner, at which point I told him I wanted to pay for our dinner; he finally gave in after I persisted that I would pay. After which we walk a few blocks to the theater to go see a movie and when we get there, he offered to pay again, but I offered to pay instead which he let me after much persisting on my part again. When the movie was done, he asked me why I didn't let him pay for the movie ticket or dinner and seemed quite upset about it, almost like a child throwing a fit which kind of surpised me considering all I did way pay...

He isn't the first guy to be upset or make a scene in regards to me paying for dinner; my ex boyfriend was like this also. Even my brother, who I visisted a couple months ago was offended when I payed for his meal...

Guys generally pay for everything, so I just figued it would be nice to pay every once in a while.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only girl that pays for a guys dinner; my girlfriends are the exact opposite and use the "old fashioned mentality" to justify their excuse for never paying for a guys dinner, which I find ridiculous. This is the 21st century!

I'm always cautious; my doors are always locked, etc. But now that I think of it, I don't have anything to defend myself if a scary situation were to transpire. Well, I do have pepper spray in my purse, and a few knives in my kitchen.
