Do you guys think the non gamers (casuals) that are buying the Wii now will lose interest in a while or will the brains from Nintendo and their creative console continue to top the sheer power of the PS3 and 360?

[QUOTE="Gamesaustra"]

A new LA Times report sees analysts debating whether the strong start the Wii is enjoying can be carried on in the long term.

Gartner's Van Baker questions whether the Wii has enough in the tank to keep casuals hooked for a long time: "Its appeal is primarily to casual gamers, and there's a serious question about how long casuals gamers will stay engaged with the platform...It wouldn't be surprising to see them lose interest aftera relatively short amount of time."

Mike Worhaus seems to disagree stating "We don't see it fading".

What do you guys think?

I love the wii, and so do millions of other people.

But reality is that it doesn't have a long shelf life. It's only for a few years, sooner or later the gap between the Wii and the 360 and ps3 will be so large that Nintendo will have to make a more powerful console with the motion controls.

It seems to me that the Wii it self is a beta and Nintendo wanted to release a product with a new way to play the game for cheap and see how it would do, they wouldn't spend tons of money on a new powerful system and have it being a disaster because of the controls.

So the way I see it is that Nintendo will be releasing a new system in the next couple of years, but with better hardware, same motion control and with a higher price tag.

That could be the case, but I believe it will be more than just a few years.

Maybe so, time will tell.

But my theory, in my opinion, seems that it could be true. I think it has maybe, 2 1/2 or 3 years when it hits it's 1 year birthday later this year.

Time will tell.

Not only will you not get improved graphics, but you are also blind as a bat. First of all, playing it on an HDTV isn't going to magically set the game's settings on high or whatever...it's a damn tv, not a graphics card so stop thinking that way please. Second of all, Lost Planet looks miles ahead of Zelda TP, you just have awful taste.Mudig

You serious...?

When I got my HD cables for my 360 the change is absolutely HUGE.  An hd tv does matter...you sure you know what you're talking about?

A lot of people have really been bashing and coming down really hard on the PS3 lately that people get so consumed in the media bashing the PS3 they dont actually take time to show appreciation to sony and what they have done in the PS3.. So this is my official Thank you sony thread..

THANK YOU SONY for offering free online multiplayer play and free online service

THANK YOU SONY For implementing Free built in WIFI and not making me run a cable through a 2 story house

THANK YOU SONY For implementing Digital Media card readers so I can store digital pictures with ease from my Digital camera Card and being able to share pictures at ease in the comfort of my living room when Company is over and taking care of me having friends and family gater around a small computer monitor just to see pictures

THANK YOU SONY for allowing PC streaming with the new update so now I can View ALL my PC content and listen to music stored on my PC directly to my PS3 in the comfort in my living room and best of all not using any HDD Space.

THANK YOU SONY for implementing built in blutooth, now I dont have to purchase a special headset that ONLY works with the PS3, I can just use my Bluetooth headset I already have.

THANK YOU SONY for including a good size 60 GB HDD and giving me the option to upgrade my HDD with Ease.

THANK YOU SONY For implementing HDMI 1.3 out of the box for a TRUE HD experience.

THANK YOU SONY for including a built in web browser. When I have company over and I want to show them something funny on youtube, I can just power on my PS3 and in the comfort of my living room share the funny youtbue video with company.

THANK YOU SONY last but not least for INCLUDING Built in BLU RAY, Im loving the blu ray experience and trust me, Blu ray looks AMAZING compared to standard DVD on a 55 inch TV. Thank you sony for saving me $800.00 in having to buy a seperate blu ray player!!

and most of all THANK YOU SONY FOR DOING ALL THIS FOR JUST $600.00!

I thought I would show appreciation to sony because they have really made everything a lot more convenient. you might say "but its suppose to be a gaming machine, where are the games" Oh the great games are coming my friends, in a few months time! By this holiday season when such games as Socom, Uncharted, Lair and warhawk are released, I will have one more thank you to add on my list.. THANK YOU SONY for providing AMAZING GAMES!!

And if you say Sony made a mistake by including a built in blu ray player then you must not have a decent HDTV because I already own 7 blu ray movies and so far im LOVING the blu ray experience, there is such a huge difference between DVD and Blu ray, im so glad sony included blu ray because that really does save me $800.00-$1,000.00 of having to buy a blu ray player. Trust me, if you have a decent HDTV and you experience blu ray, you will be greatful to sony also for implementing blu ray!!

THANK YOU SONY!!! for selling so poorly and letting the 360 get your games!!!

Sorry, that's the best I could come up with at this hour. Anyways, hahaha first person ever i have seen to actually thank sony this gen. Every is pissed off at them.

Don't forget to thank them for a 600 dollar price tag, a tacked on motion control, a new format that isn't need nor is it really wanted. Damn, where is that list i have with things to thank sony for.

thank god i have a pc, 360, and my wii should be coming soon.

People keep pointing out Sony's "horrible mistake" of making the ps3 $600. It may be horrible to you, but to some of us, it's totally worth it, and we're enjoying the extra features we have gotten with that $600. It so nice being able to watch music, etc. from my pc on my tv, play Blu-Ray movies, upscale dvds, etc.

Not everybody wants these features, and it's killing sales, but I'm glad they're there.

watch music? I usually listen to music. Hmph.

360 has more features, actually. Stream movies, music, pictures etc from your pc, buy movies, tv shows, movies, xbla games, etc from xbl. and you'll be able to buy music from XBL too, but i don't care for that at all. and you can download HD movies from xbl and play them in hd with out the hd dvd add on.

360 has a better online service with more features. I dont care for bluray. I have an hd dvd player anyways.

Nah, usually some are no brainers I know not to get them. Like if a game comes out and i happen to see a bunch of bad reviews, ill look into it and decided for my self.

Usually if I see a game I want to play, I'll rent it, then end up buying it if I like it.

But I don't ever go by website ratings, a lot of people wont settle for anything under 9.0 etc, but some of my favorite games were in the 8 range and a lot of websites don't really glorify it or are very positive about it.

I always thought that 360 was a reference to the upgrade of M$ new hardware. But I finally understand what it stands for,

360 is for (circle)....the 360 ring of death.

hamidious

actually, it is a complete rotation. Anything can turn 360 degrees, a square, trapezoid, parallelogram.

So event though you're just trolling and trying to be clever, you're still amazingly wrong. pretty sad actually.

Lemmings. Cows. Hermits. Sheep. All of you are pitiful, except one fraction. They are the Cows.

If you have a brain, you can see Resistance BLOWS AWAY all currently released games, and all upcoming nonPS3 games, Gears was a joke. Horrid textures and animation...a story as simplistic as Mario...

The 360 has bad graphics, Sony is paying Microsoft to make PS3 games look bad so they can shock and awe people when RAC ToD comes out (It will look PHOTOREALISTIC!1!) My dad works at Sony, so I know. Also, Sony made Halo and is just letting Microsoft put it on Xbox to get money from tem. In December, the Halo Trilogy Collection is coming out for PS3 with better graphics and gameplay and online.

Sony made the Wiimote, but Nintendo copied. Nintendo is nots innovative. They copied Halo with Metroid, and Sony makes Halo as I proved. Also, the Wwii should of had HD, but Nintendo was not listening to their friends and made a dumb console.

PC gamers...show mee one PC game that matches Resistance. If you can, it's doctored. Resistance has the best graphics ever. Gamespot saids so themselves. Only RAC will surpass it. Also, Sony created the first keyboard.

PS3 will win. Sony ois innovative. You're in denial if you say otherwise..

Failed when I saw the word Unbiased, and "They are the cows"

Also credibility went now the **** hole when i saw your level and post count.

P.S. use spell check.

Hahahahahahaha this is the best topic i have ever read. You give cows THE worst name out of every single fanboy here.
