I find it rather funny that some of these fanboys belive that this generation of gaming will stop next week or something like that. We're talking about ATLEAST 5 years, and you're probably right that RIGHT NOW bluray isn't needed.

But fact is that you can only compress so much, and at one point 9Gb won't be enough, a lot of developers see this already.

And Jaffe said: "I'm sure this will come back and bite me in the ass in FOUR-FIVE years, but I'd probably take out the bluray to make the machine more accessable"

exactly what I said. the topic creater cant back to us cause he knows he's wrong. very bad topic if you ask me. lets hope no1 saves this topic creaters words for future ownage lol.

No, you simply flamed me as a fanboy. You called me a lemming, which is absolutely laughable after all the lemmings flaming me yesterday because i criticised their system. Therefore, i chose to ignore you. I'll respond to his comments however:

Blu-ray will become more and more useful in the future, but i stand by my view that DVD9 will last us this gen. PS2 and Xbox launched with DVD because CD games were on multiple discs towards the end of that gen. Loads and loads of them where. A new format was clearly required. That is not the case this time around. DVD9s are doing fine. Blu-Ray is a generation ahead of it's time as far as games are concerned.

lol you chose to ignore me because you couldnt answer me with a logical and coherent response. You only answer those who you have found flaws in their argument (or so you believe). Its ironic tho since your responses are full of them.

hey i did not bring it up i am just here to kill misconceptions you and lemmings put out there.

Ninja-Vox

You did bring it up. You brought up the whole "ah but you get wi-fi..." which is completely irrelevant to the topic. I'm not a lemming, nor am i fanboy like you. I am simply debating whether or not blu-ray is necessary for gaming. If you want to walk around in circles moving from one arguement to the next, make your own thread. Dont do it here.

hey, the least you could do is admit that your a lemming. first you say, blu-ray is not needed. then you actually have the guts to say that your not a Lemming. wow that is going too far buddy!

you keep saying that blu-ray is not needed and dvd9 is good enough. tell me are we suppose to moving forward with next-gen or staying backwards. the ps3, offers the full blown TRUE next-gen experience by having blu-ray. everything is new and fresh: the controller (haha ok wiimote, we get it), the disc format, the network and everything else.

Granted the system can you use MORE games. However, I think in 2-4 months, all the haters will be singing a different tune, just like what happened with the ps2...

Going back to is it neccessary. Right Now, at this particular moment it is not needed by the games we have played. I think most fanboys are expecting ps3 to have blu-ray being fully used to its advantage within the first couple of months. Thats not going to happen. Remember the ps2, in its first couple of months of release it still had games being made in cd. That goes to show you that the format does not reach its potential until later on.

That is exactly whats going to happen with Blu-ray. Your going to see its potential realized in the next year, not right this second.  As far as DAVID JAFFE's quote, its out of context, he also states in the begining as if warning us, that its going to bite him in the ass in a couple of years. He already knows that his games will never require blu-ray but he is also trying to forcast its potential by stating that.

Again if you want to use Mass Effect, as an example. Then you should think otherwise, the developers already stated that they filled up the disc to its capacity. Now try to think about the things they could have left out. some cgi's here and there. you never know they aren't going to tell you that they need more space for those scenes. If this is happening in 2 years of 360's release think about another 2 years down the line....

the 360 is a great system with a great software lineup (mass effect and halo makes we want it) but its a crippled one if your trying to say its the true next-gen.

I'd say the most impressive thing is the GBA outselling the PS3 for the second month in a row. I figured it was a fluke the first time around.RahnAetas

moms looking for a nintendo ds when they go to ebgames or gamestop are usually offered another nintendo-made portable. that portable is the gba. i think the majority of those people that bought the gba were really looking for the ds but ended up with the gba for their kids. you mentioned this yourself.

Man, people are STILL buying the PS2? I didn't know it was that damn popular after all this time. Wii looks like it's starting to slow down a bit, but still keeping strong, and well...the GBA is beating the PS3 so I don't know what to say, but it's probably because the PS3 doesn't have a strong killer-app yet. I expect them to start selling more eventually though.

RahnAetas

PS2 and GBA units are being moved in large numbers due to their cheap price and large libraries. Not too hard to grasp. Could be secondary reasons as well. PS3 is too expensive so people settle for PS2. DS are hard to find in general, so people settle for the GBA.

wow, im impressed by your analysis. your pretty smart man. and this isn't sarcasm or a joke, im being serious.

[QUOTE="TekkenMaster606"][QUOTE="axt113"][QUOTE="TekkenMaster606"][QUOTE="MasterChumly"]

PS2 continued to be a strong performer in March, with unit sales of 279,866. On the software front, we were pleased to see sales increases from February for both the PSP and PS2. PS2 software showed a 29% increase with the launch of God of War II and PSP software demonstrated a 13% jump."

magus-21

No crying required. Because unlike fanboys, the executives and members of the board are not dedicating their time seperating the total performance on divisions within their company. When you look at the TOTAL picture. Sony appears to be doing alright considering it moved almost 300K Playstation 2s and software sales have increased on those platforms.

PS2 is killing the PS3

Yeah, that's exactly how they're looking at it.

If the PS2 is still killing the PS3 this Christmas, then Sony has reason to worry.

As long as gamers are buying ps2's to fill up thier next gen void then sony has nothing to worry about -they still making profit and thats what matter.

I was playing the Motorstorm demo tonight. My wife asked if I was playing the game I had pointed out in Target as being crappy. I admitted that I was wrong and the game was pretty fun. She said she thought it looked better than Burnout on the 360. I agreed. In my opinion, the only 360 games that compete visually are Gears and Viva Pinata.

Things are looking good with the PS3 switch.

_en1gma_

viva pinata? :?

and you made a bad choice. have you bothered to compare the lineups for both of the consoles?

what the hell is it with yout lemmings. its like you work for microsoft. if the guy is happy with his switch why dont you accept it and take it as his choice. he isn't being forced to sell is 360 and buy a ps3 like most of you lemmings are taking it.

Hope you continue enjoying your ps3. ninja gaiden sigma and lair are just around the corner ( =
