This goes for most things from cars, to large vessels, to even planets.

Can someone explain or speculate as to how this could have started?

The bible isn't peaceful, either.

TheMadGamer

It doesn't advocate violence though.

If a christian asks if you are saved, and you say no, they will give you a pamphlet on how to become a christian.

If a muslim asks if you believe in allah, and you say no, then they will call you an infidel and tell you to convert to islam or they will kill you.

You tell me, which is more violent?

HA! Don't feel so high and mighty because Christiany happens to currently reside vastly in civilized nations. Although, neither of you seem to have done your research on what Christians in countries with societies similar to the middle east do. Take Africa for example where many Christian tribes have been engaging in the killing of non-christian villages or muslim villages for not havign the same views as them. Do muslims do that here in America? No they don't. Just because your religion mostly resides here in America where we for the most part don't kill people senslessly anyway, doesn't mean your religion is more peacefull. If it were the other way around, I'm sure you'd be a couple of Muslim Americans mentally masturbating to the fact that Islam resides in the civilized American Nation therefore meaning the actual religion is more peacefull.

You sound a lot like my friend, he want's to do the same thing, granted, so do I though.

I think if you have the time and money you should definitely give it a try, but make sure someone else knows where you'll be located at within a 2 square mile radius. Not saying anything will happen, but better safe then sorry in case you're gone longer than you said you would be they can send a search party to make sure you're ok. Lastly, if you're serious about this and do have the time and money, study up a bit on your survival skills relative to the evnironment you'll be going into. Read some books on it, join a nature forum or something, hell watch those Bear Grills survival shows (they're actually very good) and make sure you know what you're doing before you die a senseless death. Not trying to scare you or anything, but surviving in nature secluded is no joke, it might not be as easy as you may be thinking. Considering your age though, and the fact that I'm only one year older, I have confidence you could do it though because I know I could if I also did everything I mentioned. Oh and one more thing, when I thought about this same thing, I always thought it would be a good idea for me to take my dog with me, it wouldn't be too tough to carry his food with me, and thats all he really needs (assuming you can find a river or something near by) and the added protection and awareness at night would be much worth bringing him. So if you have one, maybe consider that?

All that said, go for it man! I really wish I could do the same, but school and money restrictions just wouldnt allow me to do so :/

Let me know if you end up doing it man.

Vuurk

It really wouldn't be very expensive at all other than the travel expenses. But, I think you're right. It would be important to be completely prepared before doing this. Especially if I go alone.

I'm not so sure, but I suppose it depends on what materials you already have. A good tent would be the most signifigant cost, which can run you half a k for a good one right? Money that I don't personally have laying around.

I am christian, I grew up a christian, and I believe in Jesus, because well, there's a whole book of proof. And christianity is about faith, if you believe that Jesus is real and you have faith that he will take care of you, then you have a free ticket to heaven :) btw i'm not going to respond to arguements. I'm not that type of guy.

fred1712
No need to respond to arguments, how can I form one against you when there's a whole book of proof? A WHOLE book. :)
