Seriously, the controls came out REALLY well. It has TONS of gameplay, so it will keep you busy for a long time. Graphics are ho-hum, been-there, done-that, but that doesn't take away from the play itself. The story is fantastic, because it's the Godfather. Naturally. hahaha.
I'd say give it a go, especially if you can get it discounted or used. Definitely a great purchase.
It doesn't take much to look for yourself, but here you go:
You first need to go to Settings and make sure you have connected your Wii to the internet (via wireless or USB port), also while you are at it, go ahead and turn Wii-Connect 24 on.
Next, you will go to the little letter icon on the main menu of your Wii. Once there, go to Create Message (the icon second from the left side) and go to Address Book. Once there, you should see your Wii number. It's that simple.
I know exactly what you are talking about. I've actually tampered with my Wii to see if there was something stuck in there, but I think it's just a DVD-drive issue. It's not that it's not working, it's just hitting something while it's trying to read. And upon doing so, it makes some crazy noises.
As you said, it's worse when I have Gamecube games in, but it normally doesn't make any sound (outside the soft reading sound) when I play Wii games. The worst for me is when I hit eject when there is no disc in there... ooh... that makes a terrible sound. hahaha. But despite all of this, it will not do anything to your Wii. I personally checked it out, and I think it might just be a rare circumstance. It will definitely not affect the running of your Wii, by any means.
Gamespot just has the hots for XBox 360, that's all. They won't give good reviews for anything but that system. At least, that's what I've noticed since all new-generation consoles have been out.
