Just listened to the EGM podcast, it sounds like this game plays a lot better and deeper than videos may suggest.

-They slam the comparisons that are being made to devil may cry, saying it gives far more of a Diablo 2 vibe (awesome game) and overall they seem to be really looking forward to it. Tis a really good listen and hearing their obvious excitment for Too Human has finally got me really looking forward to it aswell.

The reason for this is quite simple Smash Bros is a system seller and nintendo have a limited supply of consoles, hence the staggered launch. This is a game that will make gamers go out and buy a wii, the people who will buy the majority of software for the console, instead of the casuals who will buy games at a much lower rate. Although the wii does turn a profit on hardware sales software sales are still where the majority of the money is.

It makes sense to stagger this games launch, so that the majority of wii's for the given period of each respective launch go to the region where the demand is gonna be highest. I wouldn't believe for a minute the rubbish about the cost of producing the disks being too prohibitive.

Let's break it down:

"It was hard not to spot the optimism beaming from both Sony execs and developers about the future at the Game Developers Conference last week."
- Execs always act overly optimistic, that's what they do. That's their job.

"Mark Rein told me: 'We've surpassed what Halo 3 offered.' "
- First off, I doubt you talked to either Phil Harrison or Mark Rein, and secondly, since when is Mark Rein a credible source? He scoffed at the Wii before it released, and look at it now.

"So what else was I shown? Well, I was shown a trailer for a game not due out till 2009 but was sworn to absolute secrecy. Apparently, Sony just wanted to give a glimpse of what the console will be capable of."
- Riiight, and Mario took me to Nintendo land, and showed me some magical unicorns that floated out of hundreds of Wii's SD slots. What, do you think we're stupid?

The link this comes from is a blog by a BBC reporter, so i would say its pretty reliable. And to suggest Sony wouldn't show him a sneak peak of a game, because he is in some way not important enough i find a stupid argument, he works for the largest news broadcaster on the planet. i do doubt the validity of his opinions, as he's not someone who i would go to for opinions on games, but i don't doubt his journalistic integritiy.
