@stev69 @godzillavskong It's not relevant to the news in the video. By all means feel free to post it on a gaming news forum but it doesn't belong here.
@bmart970 @Kraken422 I agree. I think as hardware advances graphics will stay mostly the same while the number of objects rendered increases instead. Game studios won't have to use the same short cuts which will be great in my opinion.
On a personal note I want to see split-screen make a return to prominence. I know most people play online now but there's nothing quite like local play. The reason games don't have 4-player co-op on a single console is due to hardware restrictions but if they don't advance graphics much next gen then the power can be used for the extra rendering and tracking required by split-screen.
While I imagine photo realistic graphics may be possible in 10 years time I doubt they will be practical. Better graphics requires a greater time investment and developers are already near the limit of what they can afford. Unless scanning technology is greatly advanced I doubt we'll ever see photo realistic graphics in game. It's actually this financial limitation that has people predicting that the 8th console generation will be the last, it's also why gamers can expect the least significant graphical upgrade in next gen history.
@northArrow @Kraken422 @evil_snuggles I personally don't see an issue with it, it just means the ads you see are tailored to you're preferences. That's my opinion you're free to have your own but it's not what I was asking about because it's not the same as stealing commercial/trade secrets.
What I was asking was: Will they use it for industrial espionage? Will they use it to steal other businesses ideas?
@evil_snuggles This is not Microsoft stealing commercial secrets, this is information farming used for targetted advertising. Google and Facebook also do this.
@AlphaWolF_J @Kraken422 That is not Microsoft stealing secrets it's Microsoft allowing a hole to be exploited by NSA for security reasons. Whether or not this is ethical is a separate debate. I'd like to add that Microsoft isn't alone here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRISM_(surveillance_program)
