There will be no poll type threads.............WHY?

Is there any reason these threads are not allowed? Ok, I get that they may clog up the boards, so let's have a better criteria. I think poll threads are interesting because even the mods like Shelco say that say that they may result in one word responses, there are a lot of people who actually respond to the thread with a lot of insight. I find that the best threads are the ones that have friendly debates going on.

MTV and Microsoft

Man I hate MTV. People saying that they hate G4(which I love) should hate MTV 10 times over. It is the poorest excuse for "Music Television" around. That Xbox 360 special was completely uninformative. They turned it into a VMA type event focusing on stars and not the product at hand. It's not all MTV's fault either I'm sure MS had a hand in how the final show was going to look, I would have rather had an open panel disscussion than a party. Oh well at least the system looks cool to me. After the show was over I went to Gamespot and to no surprise the was a write up on there about the system and it gave me way more info than the special did. The first gen games look incredible, but I can't help think they aren't that big of a leap in terms of visuals, oh well they are first gen games. I wish they would say weather the games will be backwards compatible or not, and what's up with the price? I preordered it at EB and they have it listed for 500.00! I don't, no I'm not paying that much for just the system. I still have so many questions, oh well E3 IS next week.........

I just wasted, I mean WASTED 100 bucks.

I just recently traded in two games yesterday that I bought over the last three weeks. Why? because they were two sequels that I should have absolutely loved and I didn't. First up is Resident Evil Outbreak File #2. Yeah the reviews were terrible, but so what I said, I LOVED the first one. I liked this one too, but I only liked playing it online, and the people act like they're in a track meet they run through the levels so fast that if you stop to pick something up you've lost everybody, and if you don't know where you're going you're screwed. Next up is Unreal Championship 2, once again I LOVED the first game, I LOVED the demo and dominated in the demo. Enter melee combat, which is a nice addition, but being able to play tennis with rockets and the "fatalities" are ridiculous. I just wanted a straight up, fast paced FPS, Oh well I guess it's back to Halo.

Just Finished God of War, Just traded in God of War.

I just finished this nightmare of a game known as God of War, and while it was a great action game, it was also one of the most frustrating games that I have ever played in my 20 years of gaming. There were so many parts it that game when I just would scream at the top of my lungs WHY!!!!!! It's wasn't that the game was difficult, it was that the platforming was absolutely ludacris! Prince of Persia both games had tons of platforming and I finished both of them and never got as frustrated as I got with this game. and don't even get me started with Hades. Well at least I have a feeling of accomplishment now that it's done, but I will never EVER touch that game again. I would rather deal with the ramped up difficult of Devil May Cry 3, which I'm going through for a second time, then be that frustrated with a game like that again.

I guess I have to eat my words about the PSP

I swore up and down that there was no way I hell that I was going to buy this thing, I just knew my DS would get me buy since I already had a portable DVD player and an MP3 player, plus hey God of War was coming out and I couldn't possibly do both. So what happens?

I buy them all, setting me back 450.00. Looking at my purchase all I can say is that it was well worth it! This machince is single handedly one of the most amazing devices ever created, it's basicall an all in one media player. MP3s sound great, Video looks good, my only complaint is that the memory sticks cost so much, but I'm a happy man and after playing God of War for the nightcap not to mention pickin up Phantom Dust earlier this week, I can say is that this has been a hell of a week for me gaming-wise.

Welcome to Miami

The business trips of business trips has arrived. My job has sent me to Miami, and as we speak I am in my Hotel room. Unfortunately after going to LA more than I'd like to mention, this place seems second rate compared to the West Coast. Don't get me wrong this place is beautiful, but I've seen this type of place before. I haven't been to South Beach yet, which I will be doing on Tuesday and I'll try to catch Constantine while I'm down here too. Anyone who might read this and knows about the city give me some ideas as to where to go.

Edit: I finally went to South Beach and it's like another world down there, I've never seen anything like it before!

The Patriots won....................Again.

Why do people hate teams that win? 7 years ago no one was saying "I hate the Patriots" Now everyone hates them. I am a huge Lakers fan and I understand what Patriots fan go through. I wanted the Eagles to win, but only because I'm a HUGE T.O. fan. I wanted him to get his ring. He played tonight and did everything he could to help his team win. I remember when the season started people were talking about how they would rather have Randy Moss then Owens, well he proved he's a warrior and Moss proved that he's a JackA$$. T.O. played well and didn't get hurt so I'm ok with this loss, because truth be told, the pats are really good in every aspect of the game. You gotta give it up to them, even if you hate them.

The plight of the Budget Gamer.

This is a trend that I have seemed to notice in the past six months. There are titles that are coming out budget priced (excluding the ESPN Games, and Platinum/Greatest hits and Player's Choice) that are next to impossible to find. I first started to take notice when Serious Sam: the Next Encounter was supposed to be released, now I am a big Serious Sam fan so as soon as I heard it was coming out, I was all over it, and at twenty bones, who could beat that? The problem was when the game came out it was impossible to find in any store, I would call various EBgames and Gamestops searching for this game along with calling up my local Best Buys' Blockbuster Video, Wal-mart and a few others. Needless to say I was able to get my hand on a copy until 2 weeks after the game was released. I thought maybe it was just me, but as I check the message boards on Gamefaqs, I found out that quite a few people were having this problem, Just one game I thought. Next was Gungrave: Overdose which I preordered. I can't remember why but I know it wasn't because of my Serious Sam experience. Anyway I did get my copy on it's release date, but I check the boards once again only to see the same problem with people not being able to find the game..........A 15 dollar game! Now fast forward to the present and we have Outlaw Golf 2 which I had no remote interest in getting until I realized that Links was not coming out this year and that Outlaw Golf 2 would retail at 20 bucks. Guess what? SAME PROBLEM It's only available at select places. I buy a lot of games and I preorder a lot of games. I do not feel that in order to get a Budget title that I should be forced to preorder it to gaurantee that I get without having to go to Mars and back to find it. The game is 20 dollars for a reason. Retailers, I know you purchase based on Preorder numbers, but come on let's use some common sense here. No one is really going to preorder a 20.00 game, but just because they don't preorder it, doesn't mean that they don't want it.

The Sportsmanship of Online Gaming.

Yesterday, I went to my local Best Buy and noticed that they had ESPN NBA 2K5 on sale. On sale???!!!! The game is already $20.00 and it was on sale for $15.00. So without hesitation I decided to pick it up. When I got home I played a couple of games offline and then jumped into the online arena. The first couple of challenges that I received were from people who wanted to play as.........You guessed it newly crown NBA champs the Detroit Pistons, as a matter of fact, the first 4 challenges I received were from people who were using the Pistons. It's not that I am scared to play against the Pistons, but the fact that people wanted to play the "new guy" with a 0-0 record and use the current NBA champs against the New look Lakers is absurd. I have been a Laker fan since I was 13 and I am now 27 and when the constructed their "Supersquad" last year I purposely didn't pick up ESPN NBA 2K4 because I will not use another team and I didn't think it would be fair to use a team online as stacked as the Lakers were, it just wasn't fair. When I finally got into a game it was my Lakers against some guy or gal name playin4life and their Supersonics. The game started off pretty good as we traded buckets. All of a sudden in the 2nd quarter he proceeded to shoot nothing but 3 point shots with Ray Allen and the worst part was he hit three out of every four he put up. I still tried to hang in there though but once my starters had to go out because of fatigue he was up by ten. When I got my starters back in he still shot those threes. To make an already long story short I lost because when he knew he wasn't going to blow me out he started shooting unrealistic threes because he knew the shots would fall, and this problem plagues many online games. People just have no sense of Sportsmanship now does make it fun to play through that nonsense and come away a winner, but you get sour when people do it eveytime you get in a match. Another perfect example is Guilty Gear X2 #Reload, for some reason 75% of the online matches you will run into will be against people using Ky-Kiske or Sol Badguy. It's true they are very noob friendly, but it's also true esspecially in Sol's case that their unbalance in comparison to the rest of the cast. People like this and the one's who use cheat devices online need to stop and save that for their offline games.

DS vs. GBA SP?

It was all good when the Big N had the portable console race locked down, but now everybody seems to believe that they can challenge Nintendo, even Nintendo is challenging their own product, which is ridiculous. Don't belive them when they say "The DS is not going to be competition for the GBA" yeah right. It's a portable console one and it is backwards compatible. I don't think they have plans for phasing it out, but watch how fast EBgames starts their trade in your GBA and 3 games to get the DS for $79.99. Personally I don't see anything wrong with the GBA, especially the SP the games are pretty good and affordable, not that DS games will be outrageously priced, but I don't see the point. Maybe they got scared because of the PSP and N-Gage, well after the rumors started flying from TGS about a $250.00 price tag or dare I say 350.00 price tag and only 2-3 hours of battery life? You've got to be kidding me. Don't get me wrong I love the PSP concept but for that price I need more from it than what they are offering, the movies are a nice touch, but who's going to buy movies for their PSP and their DVD player? If you do your foolish. While I think the DS and the PSP will have mild success, the GBA will still be king of the mountain after the intial 6 months, that is until a price drop. Nintendo should have waited until after the PSP launch to see if another portable was even needed, but instead they continue their long running trend of bad hardware decisions and decided to jump the gun. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and there was nothing broke about the GBA.
