His CPU and RAM are better then the 360's but the 360 stuff is console dedicated, so its much more efficient, consoles never need specs as high as a PC to produce similar results.

Vista Home Premium $110( This is the 64 bit only one i found on the egg but im sure you would rather go with 32 bit)

So all this is about $850 its about $100 over budget but hopefully your friend has a monitor, then you would reduce the price by 180. or he can try to come up with the extra 100 bux:D Now to be honest im not really sure how this system wil perform but im pretty sure you would be able to play games with some decent settings. Now im probably gonna get ripped apart by some of the more advanced builders but im trying:D Hope this info at least gives you an idea of what to go for.

Ur Gpu is very slow in Dx10 games and its bus is 128 bitu can buy a X1950 Pro goodcard for money

hmmm you do know that the 8600 GTS will max a few games at 12**x10**

or so ive heard. but i have seen it max oblivion at that res.
