I have a P5Q here, an E5200 @ 2.5 GHz and some good Kingston RAM for £170. I have a 8600GT lying around, a PSU and a DVD drive to spare. That means I'm looking at a case and a Hard Drive so maybe I'll be in the mid-£200 range :).

If he's doing video editing without gaming your going to want a Core 2 Quad for the performance in video-editing. Core 2 Duo is last resort, I have a C2D machine and a C2Q and there is a noticeable performance difference in video editing.LiftedHeadshot
I didn't realise there was such a stress on the CPU, it's no professional thing he's looking into; I doubt he will really get into the editing much, he's ambitious but often falls short :P.
Thanks for the OCUK tip, probably the best the U.K. has to offer. Looking at a P5Q ASUS motherboard, any recommendations for a 775 socket CPU?
He's looking in to video-editing yes. Newegg doesn't deliver to U.K. I believe and I'm guessing nor does microcenter.
Just the tower yes. Perhaps £200 is a little optimisticl; any suggestions on hardware though and the best places to get it online?
I've offered to build a non-gaming PC for a friend that will hold up well for many years. Any recommendations of hardware and the usual?
Budget: around £200 but I'd like evaluations of performance/price
You've disgraced yourself yes; for replying so callously to a person who is just trying to be generous and helpful. I assume you're older than Sixteen and if you are then your replies are even more pathetic by insulting me. Anyway if the editor is to be trusted the beta will be up on September 4th and it has limitations because the code is still said to be of worth.
There's a number of Mods that can improve the graphical appeal of Fallout and modify the gameplay in subjectively postitive or negative ways. There are dedicated websites for them but notable ones include:
1) Fellout (postulates that a real nuclear wasteland would look a lot less murky after two centuries, clears the sky and shines a giant sun on the full beauty of Bethesda's world) snipurl.com/iqrwn
2) Overhaul Kit (wealth of new weapons and armour) www.fookunity.com
3) Mart's Mutant Mod (new species and sub-species) snipurl.com/iqs96
4) Fallout Overhaul (merges many Mods and makes the game tougher adding things like fatigue).
Also look out for: Greenworld, High Resolution Megaton and NeilMc Terrain Pack. All of which can be probably found at FalloutNexus.
Hope I helped.
what part of "THE BETA IS **** OVER WITH" do you not understand. you have several people sitting here telling you they are in the beta and it is CLOSED NOW. get it through your thick **** skull.[QUOTE="Leon2793"]
"The beta's going to run from the minute you get this right up until the game's launch on September 25." I was told by the magazine editor who gave me this.
I also have a 7 day free runescape membership code and one code for a Terminator Salvation download if anyone wants them.Roland123_basic
No need for such hostility and over such a trivial matter also, I don't know anything about AION and I've never participated in a Beta. My reasoning on the matter was based on the only source I've read; the magazine editor's assurance that it will allow you in from the moment I received it. Since then the editor has told me a Beta is going to be up on September 4th. I was just trying to pass it on to someone who's interested I didn't know I'd meet such a pejorative response; you especially, have disgraced yourself.
