Hey guys, got a bit of a weird problem.

I just recently reset my entire machine because I just built a new pc (specs in sig). I'm wanting to install Oblivion again, but it doesn't read the disc, then my computer's start menu and all menus freeze, except for the task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete). The disc is pretty scratched, but my brother's PC can still read it and he's able to play it fine. Any idea what the deal is?

Along with what the other users have already said, try downloading RivaTuner to up your fan speed. I just recently bought my Visiontek 4870, and right out of the box the fan speed was only on 25%. Now, while that makes it nice and quite, the temp. goes up to 70C on idle. I put my card at 35% fan speed for idle, and 40-45% for gaming. This keeps it at just around 49C on idle and 50C-55C on load.

WWII is not gay but there sure are a bunch of games based on it. I will most likely skip COD5 World at War because it's being made my Treyarch Studios, and I want a modern shooter (like COD4) from Infinity Ward. I'll hold off until COD6.

A 2600XT will run Half-Life 2 flawlessly, Oblivion will run great too, but you have to remember that it is badly optimized, so you won't see perfect performance with that card.

Good set up. But the E8500 is not a "budget" CPU, neither is 4GB of RAM "budget". Those are pretty top of the line. The E8400, E8500, and E8600 are high-end Core 2 Duo chips. Your 8800 GT is medium-high-end as well. I wouldn't label this stuff "budget". Great machine for an affordable price.

Cannot wait for this game! I have a 360 but I'll most likely buy it for PC, since I bought Oblivion for PC.

As of right now, Team Fortress 2 is the best PC game out there. But I'm really, really looking forward to Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3, so they might be added to my top 3 list.
