My findings on an 80GB:
MGS2 (Substance):
-Plays fine throughout.
-5.1 surround sound does not work in cutscenesMGS3 (Subsistence):
-No crashes
-Game runs at a significantly lower framerate in some areas. For example, the fight with The Fury was almost unplayable. The framerate was so low that it seemed to be in slow-motion.darkface
Thanks for taking the time to do that darkface, it's much appreciated :)
I think I'll probably not bother trying to get the surround working on MGS2 through the PS3 and just hookup the PS2 again if I feel the need for it.
Guitar Hero III
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction
Burnout Paradise
The Orange Box
The Darkness
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
I have a question regarding the sound you guys were talking about. I have a PAL 60GB PS3 (I doubt this makes a difference but anyway) hooked up to my Surround Sound via Optical cable. I booted up MGS2 earlier, switched the 5.1 surround sound option in the menu and no sound came out during the cutsccenes that are meant to have 5.1 sound, the other scenes (like Codec, scenes with 2.0 sound) came out fine.
I then tried MGS3 with surround sound enabled and it worked perfectly. So does anyobne know why the surround isn't working on MGS2?
NOTE: Surround works fine on all my PS3 games as well.
