[QUOTE="Lord_Nuclear"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] If he was a threat then it's ok he was shot but the story has been changed so much that it seems they are just making excuses. I will always think that a trial is the right way to procede even if it ends in death penalty.kuraimen
If he was a threat... So you don't think OBL was a threat? Also, it is difficult to fight a war when your enemy is an organization that hides in the general peaceful population whom we aren't at war with. Having said that, we are at war with al-Qaeda. OBL was the al-Qaeda number one. Is everyone put on trial during a time of war? Or are they killed (because it is, after all, a war)? OBL is no different. When you are pulled into a war, you kill the enemy. There is no need for a trial. When he (himself) declared war against the United States, he sealed his own fate as an enemy combatant. There is no debate about this.
Of course there's a debate we are having one. And who says everyone should stick with the rules of war set by the wealthy western nations? maybe a lot of people don't care or want to follow those rules. I meant if OBL was a threat in the moment the operation was going on, maybe he was or maybe he wasn't. There is always need for a trial otherwise we have to accept what one side tells us without questioning. The principle of a trial is to set the record straight that what one side accuses the other is true. Nobody put those 3000 people killed on 9/11 on a trial before they killed them but should we just accept they were killed just because someone called them their enemy? I think and hope notWar wasn't exactly defined by western nations. War has existed as long as man has. Or are you going to argue that, too? It's like talking to a wall. You bring up the fact that everyone deserves a trial to decide what is "true" and what is just an accusation. Were you under a rock when he gladly and proudly took claim and responsibility to killing 3,000 people in one attack? There is nothing to prove or disprove by means of a trial like you suggest because of your "principle."
You may disagree if you want. That doesn't make you right except in the eyes of radicals that started the war by declaring it and then taking action. Consider all the facts.
Take Iraq for example. Saddam was put on trial for crimes against his own people. His own people (the ones who he wronged) found him guilty and had him hanged.
Now consider OBL. Why would we put him on trial? He declared war, on behalf of al-Qaeda, against the Americans (keep in mind, ALL Americans, innocent civilians and government/military alike) and made it his work to wage that war. It isn't the same as having the leader of your own country kill your own people and then them put him on trial for it.
OBL planned and led an attack (remember, this is a war according to OBL's own declaration) that killed many, and we attacked back. It is war. When you are attacked, you attack back. You don't attack with trials. You attack with a bullet to the left eye. There is no trial.
Political correctness will be the ultimate downfall of this country.
