Fair enough. These are all valid criticisms. I guess I just really liked the jungle environments, I thought that made it stand out from the other FPS on the ps3 (that I've played). I have yet to play Unreal 3. Guess the bar on the PS3 is quite high.

Other than the fact it wasn't Bioshock, Call of Duty 4 or Orange Box? I thought the demo was OK. The caves were pretty boring but once you get into the jungle it seems to be a fairly unique experience. Using dinosaurs to kill other humans was a refreshing twist. I've read the previous threads about this, and no one has pointed out specifically what "sucked balls" about it.

Not that I love the game, but I think people may be way too overcritical in this case.

I am. I have a PS3 but I still spend more time with my Gamecube collection. That's not to diss the PS3 (which I love) it's just how it is. Playing Splinter Cell: Double Agent right now. It's actually pretty awesome.

What model of PS3 did you buy and what were the features you most wanted? What are the features you thought you could live without?

Personally, I went for the 40GB because of it's sweet price tag. It was the cheapest way for me to play the best version of Oblivion, and I had an old stash of PS1 games I wanted to catch up on.

I didn't feel that I needed PS2 backward compatibilty. I have a Gamecube and 80 games for that, so I think I got what I wanted out of the last generation.

I sure do like the media features of the PS3. Music and photo software especially. Didn't think I'd care about that, but I do.

Get the 40GB. The extra perks you get with the 80GB package just aren't worth $100. The 40GB may not be backward compatible with the PS2, but it still has HDMI outputs and Wireless Internet capabilities.

I bought the 40GB. I'm very,very happy with it.

Everyone knows about the 360 and it's problems. What's the hardware failure rate of the PS3? Have many people had problems? If you have had problems, what was dealing with Sony like?

No, Blu-Ray does look better than DVD. I just thought Blu-Ray would look so good that I wouldn't be able to watch a DVD again. Not so, DVD's are still fine for me (not as good as Blu-Ray of course, but still look pretty decent). I was just saying that my biggest disappointment with Blu-Ray is the features. It's not a big deal.

What kind of features would you guys like to see on Blu-Ray? I'd like every language in subtitle form for starters, so I can watch the movie with anyone. I'd also like to see more "Making of" and "Interviews" instead of movie advertisments. Maybe content for the PS3 as well? That would be cool as well.

Just thinking that there is alot more that could be done.

Just got myself a PS3 along with DiRT and Oblivion, and I gotta say, I'm loving it. Even though PS3 seems to be having the most problems this generation, I don't care...this is a very cool system. I updated the firmware and downloaded some demos from the Sony store...sweet stuff.

I got a free Spiderman Blu-Ray with my PS3. Gotta say, I'm a little surprised at how underwhelming Blu-Ray is. The picture isn't really that much better than DVD and the options aren't much more than DVD either. One thing I expected of Blu-Ray was that it would have options for subtitles in every language in the world. No Japanese. Hmmmm...(I actually need Japanese)

Also, I thought they may have more "Making of" features and such on Blu-Ray, but there are just alot of advertisments for other movies. Seems strange that Sony would include such a unphenominal disc with it's PS3. Still, I shouldn't complain....it's free. Just surprised is all.

Still the PS3 is mainly for games, and in that respect, it's pretty awesome, and I'm sure Blu-Ray will come in useful in that respect.

Goodbye Gamespot. You were good while you had good editors, yet that is no longer the case.
