So I've installed the Internet Explorer 8. It came with the google search bar on the upper right corner, as usual. I, idiot, removed the other ones, since I've always used google. The thing is, I'm a biology major, and consequently there are things in my history of which I'm not particularly proud (both involving biology and not). I've gotten intomore than a few embarrassing situations of when somebody was using my computer and the stupid search bar provided pages inmy history that matched part of what was being typed.

Is there a way for me to disable this? I just can't figure it out. Or maybe another search bar? Where can I donwload one? I can't seem tofind it.

Thanks

My question is somewhat similar

What about the ATI Mobility RadeonTM HD 4570 (512 dedicated RAM). I'm not looking into being a hardcore gamer or anything, but is this card powerful enough to run most games? Say Gears of war, call of duty and the like

Thanks

yay for thread necro

In the end they game me back the option for the ATI Mobility RadeonTM HD 4570 with 512MB dedicated RAM.
I'm pretty sure this isn't cutting-edge, but I'd just like to know how well it stacks up. Is it a "good" card?

Thanks

I'd be leaning towards Dell too, if it weren't for a single thing that is reported a lot on their website: how much these two overheat.

It gets worse. I currently live in Brazil, but will buy this when I'm in the US come July, because electronics are so much more expensive here due to taxes and whatnot. Which is why it's a lot more dangerous to invest in something that might fry itself in a couple months, when I have no readily available insurance and maintenance. Dell does have a Brazilian segment, but I'm not how sure how expensive repairs might be with them.

Is the heating thing something that I should be really worried about? Also, if anyone has any suggestions on a model that might be useful, it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking for a "gaming laptop", but it'd be nice have the option to use it for gaming also.

Also, straying from gaming now, how is the "Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD"for day-to-day use? Say I decide not to game on it, save for a few rounds of Counter-Strike, which, if mylimited knowledgeserves me right, could run on my cellphone.

I've also had the Studio XPS 13 and 16 Dells in my mind. Honestly, the only thing that's kept'em in my sights with the VAIOs is that they seemed to have a better GPU.

13 has and NVidia GeForce 9500M - 256MB
16 has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 - 512 MB

Would any of these two actually provide something over the GPUs we mentioned in the VAIOs?

Also, for comparison's sake, the laptop I have now (Dell Latitude D610) has an ATI Mobility Radeon X300. Would the "Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD" at the very least be faster/more powerful than this one?

I've run into yet another problem.

Some of the laptops, including the one I was looking into for my sister (CS), don't even show an option for the graphics "component". It says "Hybrid Graphics System with 256MB dedicated video RAM" for the Z. Would that be equivalent to a 256MB Video Card?

As for the CS, it has absolutely no mention of anything graphics related. Should I be worried? Am I overlooking something?

Thanks

Thanks again everyone

@Marfoo
I really don't plan to do much gaming on this, but I'd just like to keep options open. Would this run Gears of War and friends?

First of all, I'd like to thank everybody for the answers and clarifications.
I'd also like to use this opportunity toanswer a few other questions.

Does having a Dual Core processor basically mean doubling the speed? (or quadrupling, for Quad Core). Is a 2GHz Dual Core faster than a 2.16GHz?

The only option I have for Graphics in the laptop I'm looking at (VAIO SR) is a Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. I understand this is an "onboard" graphics card. What is the difference? From what I've read, I get the impression this will "leech" more off the processor as opposed to a dedicated graphics card. Is that it? Also, howwell does this one perform? I'm planning mostly regular computer using and maybe some gaming. CS:S, my old BF2, maybe Gears of War or Call of Duty. 4GB RAM and 2.66GHz Dual Core, probably.
