[QUOTE="kraken2109"][QUOTE="Lyncaster"]Nope. 1280x720 And i have no idea what antialiasing is. I hit optimal and it put everything at very high and the game runs smooth all the time.

720p is quite a low res and you're probably not using AA, but that's still pretty good for integrated.

Actually i looked, and at 1200/900, with 12x aa. And mostly highest settings i can run it.

[QUOTE="godking7"]Hello I was looking at this thread as I was shopping for a gaming laptop myself and to be honest if your not set on intel and nvidia, you would probaly find better results from the AMD A6 w 7670 for the price range. While intel is a better processor compared to AMD but in this case AMD would probaly payoff for what your doing with this laptop. The reason I say that is because you get a true quad core with AMD vs a dual core w the intel (granted hyperthreading but still splitting resources) while AMD is 4 true cores with dedicated memory resources etc and with this crossfire setup you will essentally have an older ATI 6770 or that has 800 stream processor or 7770 and will game very well. The 630m is fine but when comparing specs I have found that 2 of AMD stream processor is equal to 1 of NVIDIA cuda cores aka shade processors. and the 630m has 144 shade processor and would be equilavent to the AMD A6 integrated 6520G but add the 7670M on top of that and you can estimate about a 30-60% graphical capability increase. and with the new architectures of AMD and ATI 7000 series power consumption is lower and allows for longer computer lifespan. If you were to break the $650 you would probaly want to shop a little harder for an i5 w a better dedicated GPU. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions. Hope you find what your looking for. Also with the money you save you could buy a nice SSD to add in the extra HDD bay or buy a nice set of RAM like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104257 if you did the RAM with the Acer as7650G-6522 you wouldn't break $600 and if you did feel like spending the extra, buy the RAM and a nice 64GB SSD for around $60-80 and you could have a fast gaming laptop for around $650 that has a lightning fast dedciated OS drive and storage/gaming drive of 500GB. I would gaurantee that you would be a very happy gamer. An if your worried about SSD failure go with the new Samsung 830 SSD series because I have used a ton of SSD and this is the only one ive used for almost close to a year that I have not had any issues with. The Samsung are also only 7mm wide instead of 9.5mm and you wouldn't have the clearance issues that is reported on the Acer AS7560G-5622 with the extra HDD bay.

Bro I have no idea what half of what you said meant :P Just be honest, because I want to wait to build computers, will either of the two he listed play most games (mainly indy and some current gen, but not a deal breaker) with no REAL difference?

he probably didn't. Anyway, don't get the dell that you linked to. It's a decent laptop for non gaming purposes, but, especially for the price, either of the Acers superclocked posted have real video cards, which will do wonders over the intel graphics the dell has. I'd go for the Acer with the Intel i5 and nvidia graphics card. The processor is much better than the AMD one, and for the games you'll be playing, the extra 2 gigs of ram in the other one will not make a significant difference.

The Acer with the Intel has a better processor than my laptop (which is an i5 430m dual core), and a better graphics card (the acer has a 2gb gt630m, mine is a 1gb HD4670), and the same amount of RAM as mine (4gb). I get excellent framerates in Diablo 3 maxed out, starcraft 2 at mostly high with some medium, bioshock maxed out, the stalker games maxed out, FEAR and FEAR 2 maxed out, half life 2, ep 1 and 2 maxed out, and portal 2 almost maxed out. And fallout 3 with high res texture and lighting mods, at mostly high, minus AA, and 8x AF. All those i run at 1920x1080.

As for newer, more graphics heavy games.. I can do skyrim at mostly high, with lighting mods, if i run it at 1280x720, which is very close to what that Acer displays. Same with crysis, I can do mostly high at 1280x720. And crysis 2, I can run at 1280x720, on minimum settings (which is called "high" in crysis 2).

Bottom line. I'm pretty damn sure that Acer with intel and the nvidia card is the best option, and will definitely be solid for what you said you're going to be using it for. It sure as won't last 5 years, though. No laptop will. Mine is just over 3 years old, and it was almost $1500 when I bought it.

Thanks a lot! Are these the same as the laptop you recomend?

That looks to be a good laptop for the price. I would buy some more ram for it down the line, but even then it's still a great value for the price. I have a similar laptop with very similar specs, except 17.3 inch screen and 8gb ram and I can play most of my games on high settings on 1600x900 resolution (sins of a solar empire, left for dead 2, starcraft 2, league of legends). For newer games (crysis, shogun 2, BF3) I either bump down the resolution and/or lower the settings to medium. I don't see why the laptop you linked shouldn't be able to perform similarly if not offer better performance after you upgrade ram (because of the lower resolution for the smaller screen).

Which link? The acer or Dell?

What would you recomend?

I dont mind playing games on medium, but I want something that will last me about 5 years, and maybe part of next gen.
