Yeh, it's a common problem - I get the same on the vast majority of connection attempts, sometimes it works - most of the time it doesn't. Check your NAT settings it should be either 1 or 2. The patch does little to recify it if anything and it's unlikely the new firmware would help as the problem clearly lies on the GTA servers. You could try either placing the PS3 in a DMZ or portforwarding, you should be able to find a short list of ports needed for GTA on this board or via T2 support. I've done this and nothing has helped so far and I have a NAT2 connection. I guess we'll just wait for another patch or somekind of statement saying everything is working...

Cheers :)

It still does it for me too, losing connections or session no longer exists although it's less frequent now since patch. But it still takes a number of attempts to get into a game but I am actually playing a few games online now but only with 5-6 players or less. Connection is NAT2 so it should be fine but I've heard lots of people have problems with GTA and the BT Home Hub which I use, somekind of hardware conflict. How many of you guys are using the Hub??? I would rather DMZ my PS3 but configuring the Hub to do this is mind-boggling to say the least.

Cheers :)

As far as the online goes, I still get connection errors unless I host which seems to the case for the vast majority at the moment. Not experienced any freezing before or after patch. So it's pretty much the same as before with the online - it has only improved it by a tiny fraction. I had my first online game last night after a couple of my mates actually managed to connect but only after several attempts via invites.

Cheers :)

I can't connect at all but just found this on the T2 support

'In order to play GTA IV via the PS3 network you will need to open the following ports on your router or modem:

UDP ports:

6672, 28900

TCP ports:

8001, 27900'

I can access the PSN easily enough but I just get the error 'cannot contact provider' in GTA.

Cheers :)

Skipped it, although I did borrow a copy of the Japanese version over a weekend. It's nice but there won't a whole lot to do in it but the EU version has more. Holding out for GTA and got Warhawk to fill the little time I have in the evenings.

I have come across a few AVIs that won't play on the PS3, I think they were encoded with the H.264 codec - not completely sure but that codec and DivX seem to be the most popular.

Having played the JP version, there is just 5 tracks (3 tracks with slight variations Fuji/Suzuka & Daytona. 2 cars in around 16-20 garages. I don't know if there will be any differences between that and the EU version but it only took me two to three days to get through the whole game. Apart from a couple of the 'mission' races, the game is quite easy to GT veterans. It is stunning nonetheless running at 1080p, it also lacks a camera snapshot mode too.

I'm going to pass up on it and wait for the full game. It is just a glorified demo and only worth renting for a few nights in my opinion.

Cheers :)

I thought it meant they have their NVGs active, since you can see who is talking elsewhere on the screen.

For the games firstly, then for the Blu-ray and then for the BC feature. At the moment I am using it alot more to download and watch DVDs upscaled. It really is a fantastic bit of kit at the moment for HD TVs.

 but I do hate it when this happens. I thought it strange as there is no news of the 'patch' on the IW forums. Still testing it supposely...

Cheers :)
