It is found out that my board sensor is faulty for my high temp readings. After sometime I re-applied the thermal compound I decided to buy a after market cpu cooler as the temp is still quite high (65 - 69C at stock 3.0ghz).

So, I bought the Xigmatek Achilles and applied the Tuniq thermal compound with it and I found out that my Idle temp is still the same as before which is 40 and 41C. Thus, I think most likely the sensor on my board is bad.

Now I had overclocked the processor to 3.6ghz and Idle is still the same, and max temp is around 56C.

I wonder whether this cpu cooler, Xigmatek Red Scorpion could fit in my Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case or not with a side panel fan facing almost directly to the cpu.

ahh so you say its not the best for OCing. i plan to overclock my cpu a little, as its only an E4500 @2.2ghz... would that be possible?

also.. would http://www.i-tech.com.au/items.aspx?id=39014 be a better option?

sorry if im being annoying at all, its just im 16 and dont really have alot of money to waste haha. i really appreciate the help though.

At least I'm not the one that felt annoyed,:). For the coolermaster one, you can read the review from the url below.
http://www.techenclave.com/reviews-and-previews/cooler-master-extreme-power-plus-460w-111983-gars4.html

For the one you posted (OCZ), of course it would be a better option if it is within your budget and I also recommend it for further system upgrade later. I think the PSU is the most worth thing to invest in a PC as it won't be outdated like other hardwares in short period of time (especially the graphic card). lol

But , i mailed to Cooler Master Regarding with my PSU , and i got a response from them , they suggest me Real power 620W , that why i confuse My system Configuration is Asus Maximus Fromula intel C2D E6850 Corsair 2 Gb Ram Lg DVD Writer WD HDD 400GB and xfx 8600Gt and i want to upgrade it with gtx 275Gamers_cool

I think it shouldn't be any problem running only a single gtx275. Even a single gtx280 wouldn't use up so much power to 520w under load.
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3340&p=2

The link about shows the system with a gtx280 cosumes about 313W under load while the 9800GTX+ is only 264W. Also my PSU is 70% efficiency, which means it will only support 322W but I still got plenty watts to spare. If I'm not wrong, Real Power Series efficiency is about 81%, which is about 421.2W for a labeled 520W PSU.

Besides that, I think the total Ampere for the +12V rail is more important than the labeled power. For me If they are 36A and above, it shouldn't be a problem.

Well, This is my understanding about PSU and I might not be 100% correct. :D. If you plan to upgrade both of your PSU and GPU after this, I think you can just get the GPU and try out first. If your system is not stable then you just change the PSU to the higher ones.

If you are asking whether is enough for a gtx 275, It would be a yes. Real Power series is better than the Extreme Power series.

hmm that eXtreme Power Plus 460W looks good :) will it run any 9800gtx+? do diff brands have different power requirements?

adzobren44

I don't think the power requirements differences between brands will be much as they are using the same gpu chips or technology. Also I heard this power supply is not good for overclocking if you intend to do it. Besides, my running system is:
C2D E8400
Gigabyte EP43-S3L
3gb ddr2 800mhz Adata Extreme Ram
320gb hdd
9800GTX+
DVD-RW rom
3x120mm fans, 1x90mm fan and 2x80mm fans and two cold cathodes

I always play games for few hours and is stable all the time. :)

I suggest you better don't buy this card for year 2009. GPUs that are better than the 8600GT is
Nvidia 9500GT, 9600GSO, 9600GT and 9800GT (9-series)
ATI HD4830, HD4850 ( I suggest this two,I think the HD4830 is better than the 9800GT)

Fo my case is the ram... That time I re-assembled my old hardwares and the pc doesn't boot up and having a black screen but the cpu and gpu fans are running. I tried to plug in and out both of the rams and also boot the pc with either one of them in different slot but it doesn't work at first, then I put in my new ram from another pc, somehow it successfully booted.

The weird thing is, after that, I take off the new ram, and put in the old ram again, it booted. Lol

I own a 9600GT and a 9800GTX+ .. both of them are great cards.
The 9600GT could play most game titles on med/high settings in 1920x1080 and the 9800GTX+ could max out almost everything with that resolution except for crysis. I would suggest you to buy the GTS 250 since is a newer product :D
