Peace out Panda!
Ever felt your heart beat in your throat?
Your mind blank with fear.
You start to lose senses,
Touch, speak, smell, taste.
The only noise you hear is silence around.
The only thing you can trust is your eyes,
and what they tell you,
Truth or lies you'll never know.
Unsure who you are.
Where you are.
Your purpose.
How to escape the feeling of being alone.
I used to PC game and now I want to start it back up again. If anybody reading this is a PC gamer, can you tell me your hardware "set-up" please.
Thank You!
I'm soo busy lately! GOD DAMN WORK! (no blasphemy intended).
My lovely friends will have to wait for my list to continue when things die down....sorry!
P.S did anybody get the title? Its a joke.
Sorry haven't blogged for a couple of days, been really busy with work and my band activies :D. Reading the comments off of my last game blog I shall add two games on the list to get through my forever growing list of my favourite games!
The first of the two games is....
Top Spin (Ps2 & Xbox) Score 9/10
If you aren't familiar with the Top Spin series I shall fill you in first. A small little tennis series called 'Virtua Tennis' was dominating the gaming industry in the 'tennis section' with their arcade, fast paced gameplay, until the Top Spin series was first released. Top Spin is a simulation game (not arcade) and the closest thing you will get to playing the superstars of tennis in your living room (or bedroom!). I've always had a soft spot for tennis from a very young age, watching stars like Pete Sampras and Tim Henman. When I owned an Xbox, sadly not anymore, I purchased Top Spin. Not knowing anything about the game I took a huge risk. It turned out to be one of the greatest sporting games I had (and still have) ever played. It offered a perfect balance between simulation and fun, whereas most simulation games just offer the closest gameplay to the subject it is imitating and lacked on the fun side of things. Top Spin has amazing gameplay that lets you hit all the tennis shots that you can dream of. You can play almost impossible shots out of nowhere and win back the point when you are on the backfoot and visa versa, meaning the CPU can strike back at any moment so being aware at all times is crucial when in amatch against a top flight player. On top of the gameplay, Top Spin has a deep career mode that helps you live the life of a rookie tennis player working his way up the rankings to become the number 1 player in the world. Unlike its rival Virtua Tennis, Top Spin's ranking system doesn't increase as you win games but you must win enough games to increase your points whilst on tour. If one of your rival players beats you and wins the tournament, they will gain more points than you. Also unlike Virtua Tennis, you don't have a calander to play by but lower level tournaments that you can choose to play inwhatever order you like and move pup to bigger venues like the French Open and Wimbledon. You can also become sponsored by different tennis brands like Adidas and Wilson. Overall Top Spin is the greatest tennis experience you could possibly imagine beating any other tennis game with a game, set and match winning serve! (see what I did there...clever ay?). Luckily I purchased it on Ps2 again and it game the other day!
The next game on the list is....(unsuprisingly!)
Pete Sampras Tennis (Sega Megadrive) Score 7/10
Even though this game is in my all time favourite collection, unfortunatly I don't remember that much of the game. When I was younger obviously stars like Pete Sampras and Agassi were around playing their damn good tennis and winning all of the championships it was bound to come along with one of them endorsing a video game and it had to be the tall, bushy eyebrowed Pete Sampras. The game was half decent (from what I can remember  ) and offered, at the time, the most fun you could get in a tennis game. Its long haul World Tour mode, which was just a series of games one after each other, and its colourful graphics, Pete Sampras Tennis appeal to all video gaming tennis fans.
As GameSpot reels in its final anticipated games of 2011, it made me think back over the time I have been gaming and my favourite games.Due to different activities in my lifesuch as my band and college work, I shall add a new game onto the bottom of each blog entry and say as much asI can about the game to give you a rough overview. I shall keep bloggingmy favourite games untilI forgot to keep adding them orrun out of games . Theywill bein no order just my favourite games of all time. Some of them I own now and many brought me joy when I owned them :)
The first entry into my gaming legends is.....
Hogs of War!
This game was released on the PS1 and defined a certain type of 3D gaming for me. What the game "Worms" had been doing for years with its 2D look and Worms, Hogs of War did it ten times better. Set in a WW2 environment, Hogs of War sees the player pick a team of grunts and build them up to be heroes. It offered many teams from the snobbish British to the dirty playing Germans, witheach one ableto suit anybody. You would then take your team through many battlefields (even a quilt of minefields!) in a fun-packed story type mode. You can have many types of infantry such as gunners and snipers and an arsenal of weapons that would put Ratchet & Clank to shame! All topped off with hilarious voice commentary from the comedy master Rik Mayall. This game is unmissable for anybody looking for a light hearted bit of fun!
p.s I updated this blog to say favourite games instead of top 10. Everytime I add a new blog talking about something different, I'll add a new game to the bottom.
I purchased my DS Lite a couple of years ago for a splash at portable gaming. I had the GBC and GBA before so I thought I wouldn't go wrong with Nintendo. After a couple of highly acclaimed game purchases I still wasn't convinced about how 'good' the DS actually was. It didn't do games justice like FPS or hack n' slash so it went under my bed and lived there until I bought a PSP instead recently. After looking up everything on the 3DS (thanks to Fojmohsin :D), I remembered how good Nintendo actually were at consoles and purchased some more games. I got both Final Fantasy 3 and 4 and YES finally my DS has proven worthy!
I have never been a huge fan of Final Fantasy, I loved RPGs don't get me wrong but they were TOO much in a world of their own with a whole story, characters, items, etc. Now I have realised how good this world is. It really does stand out as the best RPG series around, my only regret being I never found it earlier!
Thank you wonderful Final Fantasy for showing me the delight of the DS and thank you Nintendo DS for showing me the gaming perfection of Final Fantasy!
This Panda won't sleep for a while
Firstly thank you to all the people with Ps3 game suggestions...I bought Ratchet and Clank and what a game it is!
Secondly, I want to admit publically that I was wrong and that the 3DS looks amazing and even better than the Sony NGP :D
I'm looking at buying a cheaper/older PS3 game to play that should give me something to play fora while....
any suggestions?
Thanks
We must ALL be film lovers here at GameSpot so I thought I would be an information angel and bring you the latest and uncoming information about the films of 2011!. Below you will find a list of the top 10 films that are going to be released. The top 10 is chosen by me, as there is a list of over 30 films set to be released. I won't include them all as I'll be here for ages and you'll be bored reading them (if you aren't already). This list is in no particular order.
1. Thor - The giant hammer wielding hero (no euphemism there!) is hitting the big screens for the first time ever (I think but hold it against me if I'm wrong). This is another film by Marvel and they haven't let us down yet so watch this space Thor fans!
2. Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn Part 1 - For all Twilight fans!Edward Cullen and chums are set to come back. This one was a bit obvious to be released. Personally nota fan of the series but thought I'd add it in as there seem to be quitea few fans of Twilight on GameSpot.
3. Transformers: Dark of the Moon - If you're a fan of giant fighting robots looking after humantiy then this is the film for you. Unfortunatly for the lads, rumours are that Megan Fox isn't the leading lady anymore and this rumour has been out there a while so I guess it is true. The third film in a series of films that just keeps getting better. A definate watch if I were you.
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - The latest film in a series that takes crazy pirates and even crazier events to a maximum and adds humour into the mix. This film is the first (again rumours) that isn't linked directly to the other 3 films. No Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly for this one people only good ole' Jack Sparrow and Barbosa have been thrown back into the series as main characters...oh and lads...Penelepe Cruz is the leading lady (if you like her that is!).
5. Green Lantern - Yet another superhero film to be released in 2011. It seems the year of the superhero as we have just had the Green Hornet and on top of the two mentioned here we have another X-Men flashback film and (apparently) Spiderman 4. Not much to say on this film except with a DC Comic storyline and Ryan Reynolds acting as the leading man, this film is not one that should be missed!
6. Scream 4 - Bringing back old school horror for the masses in 2011 is Scream 4. The Scream series is guanranteed to scare you until your whits end. The trademark mask and knife are back for more killings. You can find the trailer simply by searching for it in Google. Not a film I would choose to watch but thought I would add it for fans of the series (how thoughtful ay?)
7. Sherlock Holmes sequel - Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law return as the quick witted duo to help fight crime in old fashioned London. The biggest and best film of 2009, the sequel returns for release later this year. In my opinion this filmwill be unmissable and (hopefully!) be the biggest film of 2011!
8. Cars 2 - The cute animation from Pixar is back in their first sequel outside of the Toy Story series. If you enjoyed the first film I can't see Pixar letting the side down on this film. This film will be aimed perfectly for both adults and children so if you have kids, TAKE THEM TO SEE THIS FILM!
9. Mission Impossible4 - The film series that keeps coming even when we don't ask for it! Nah I'm joking, the first 3 were throughly enjoying and action packed. Expect more of the same big explosions and over the top antics in this...whats the 4th sequel called?
10. Harry Potter Deathly Hallows (part 2) - Finally at number 10 we have Mr Potter and his magic friends returning for part two of a book that really should have been done in one part. The first part was very slow with its build up and very low on action. I'm guessing that (fingers crossed) we'll get all the action in this part of the film and will be a very satisfying end to a truly great series of films.
I have left many out so if you want another list of films set to be released or just want the release dates for these films please comment and improve my badly constructed list to help you plan your movies in 2011.
Thank you for reading,
Peace out Panda time!
